I know if FSU is successful it is probably good for Clemson, and vice versa

but does it bug anyone else how important FSU thinks they are. Haven’t done much in a decade and had to rely heavily on mercenaries to again become sorta relevant last year, but OMG, they think they are the cats meow. Also, wonder where they all of a sudden got that idea that the ACC doesn’t own their rights after they leave the conference. They sure do think a lot of themselves!

We can definitely debate the merits of FSU's "noisy" approach to filing their legal action. The perception to many is that they have lacked some tact in their statements and actions. Regardless, they understand their worth because TV football viewership numbers bear it out. Even in down years for them, they attract eyeballs to TV sets just like us. In fact, we are the two biggies in the conference from that standpoint. This factor is what media outlets pay hard cash for. Also, Clemson has asserted that the conference does not own our media rights to games after a conference exit (only for games pre-exit).

You are correct. The value of any team to any network or streaming service is the number of eyeballs. Nothing else matters to them. FSU and Clemson have the eyeballs. That is why their value gets them a spot in one of the POWER 2 conferences. And the ACC knows this.

They don't really bother me at all. I don't see them as our enemies, I see us in this together, both working to find a solution to get out of the ACC

Before 2012 or so, they were key. And we weren't. Glad we are addressing this after a dynasty decade and not in the late 90s.

Not comparing football to war but..."You don't go to war with the army you want. You go to war with the army you have." Donald Rumsfeld Secretary of Defense.

Clemson and FSU have wanted to exit the ACC or have the TV revenue distribution addressed for some time. Their hands were forced when the CFP was divided with the ACC getting less yet again. Fans watch winning programs and FSU was an undefeated conference champ. They may not be in this powerful of a negotiating stance or have as much "value" to sway the courts as they have now for some time.

The ACC will fight this tooth and nail. Look at the sudden downfall of the PAC12 after their major programs left. All that remains are OSU and WSU. If you think the PAC12 champ will be in the CFP with only 2 teams in the conference your kidding yourself. The ACC will either raid the BIG12 or collapse, if FSU and Clemson leave.

In the courts they're allies, on the field enemies.

I just keep reminding myself that this is a complex, complicated, convoluted legal case and there are no smoking guns that will be made public and PRESTO! FSU and Clemson will be free to join the SEC or B1G.

It's gonna end up being behind the scenes negotiations while the lawyers for both sides try to present the legal case so that their side has an advantage in the behind the scenes negotiations.
