I wish our fans would stop posting every little criticism…

I get it, this season has been harder on us than anyone. Plus, it’s human nature to be upset and offended.
And I’m glad our fans believe in themselves but we also need to believe in the program. It seems like fans are often overly critical lately. Whether it’s posters complaining about the offense or the staff, or fans regurgitating critiques made by broadcasters and other fans, it’s seemingly something else every day.
Again, I realize it’s human nature to want to have answers to our problems. But perhaps fans should just say that they are focused on themselves and let our coaches focus on football, and not be so worried about what outside voices are saying.
Continuing to throw out these criticisms with long, detailed posts is only encouraging people to swipe left on your e-harmony account.

No the difference is most don’t even care about the basketball program, they gave up long ago...
If we had won 10 conference games in basketball 10 years in a row then it would be the same.
Hopefully with everyone’s support Basketball will become that important!

it is extremely difficult knowing I have ALL the answers and the coaches just won't listen to ME! Makes me want to cancel my IPTAY membership and annoy all the other so-called fans in my section at the stadium. If they would just listen to ME, we would not be in this position, every play call would be a TD, and these injuries would be meaningless because we'd have 23 transfers on the depth chart. I think I'll write an open letter to the world! MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Something I noticed is that people want to use the word again in that context much more over the last could of years. It's as if it is contagious. I a not critiquing you, it's just something I noticed. People start a lot more sentences with "Again,...." lately. Again, I am not critiquing you, but just pointing out something I have noticed. It's non stop in the morning sports talk shows etc etc. Anyone else notice it? It's kind of like when everyone would say, "Who does that?". "Again" to start a sentence is the new deal.
"Again, I realize it’s human nature to want to have answers to our problems. But perhaps fans should just say that they are focused on themselves and let our coaches focus on football, and not be so worried about what outside voices are saying."

I like how Francis Marion thumbed you up because he's too stupid to realize you were making fun of his idea that you can't air opinions about a bad football team, even if you're spending money on them.

Or what about someone who incessantly complains about a product yet is too narrow minded to go find a product that meets their needs, rather than thinking the product must be responsive and reactive to every narrow minded critic!

from the UGA game.
Against Pitt, we were 1 bad throw and 1 dropped pass away from scoring 31 (yes you read that right, thirty-one) points.
I think Dabo's gonna unleash fury on Norvell. We may score twenty plus.

And yet Pitt scored 27 to the Tigers 17. I think that's going to be the tale the rest of the season... the opposition only has to score one more time than the Tiger offense that stinks to high heaven. Recognize that 17 points they scored is what counts, not the 'could have been 31' that didn't happen. And those didn't happen because there is a disconnect between QB and receivers. It a combo of talent, hubris, and game-time performance which isn't up to snuff. Perfection in practice isn't making it onto the field at game time which means the coaching is falling far short. Coaching to build confidence and tone down nerves, coaching to teach patience and timing. Coaching decisions to sit players who during the game simply are showing too little improvement in the winning drive.

I like it all.......it's human nature for fans to be fans...
Oct 28, 2021, 8:40 AM
|
|
when things go wrong:
some fans stick their heads in the sand and say "the coaches know best" some fans say "at least the sun came up this morning" some fans have the fixes for EVERY problem (I'm probably in this boat) some fans say start the backup QB some fans say it's the Oline's fault some fans want to fire EVERY coach on staff some fans will defend the coach to no end and say "it's been done twice, there's no need to change"
I like all points of view.......the message board is boring w/o it.
Bottom line is most ALL of us pay A LOT of money to watch Clemson football as a hobby. So, IMO........EVERYBODY can spout their opinion from the rooftops........especially when we're having a season like this.

If your only interest is to watch Clemson Football as a hobby, that means you are in it only for the entertainment value. You are not a fan so do us all a favor and go root for Michigan. There is a commitment to this University. No one likes to lose but we are not the Coots of the ACC. If you want to be entertained every time, I suggest video games.

What would you want fans to talk about? Should we all just be here in one big ole circle jerk every day? Or perhaps the criticizing is actually because Clemson fans are mentally invested in their team and like to talk about what could be right or what could be wrong.
Put it this way. No one can belly ache like a Boston Red Sox fan. As a fan of Boston, We got so used the curse it became part of fan culture and we did not know what to do once the Sox actually won a World Series. about 90% of being a fans is crying due to lost expectations. Even with the curse we expected to win the Series every year and everyone had an opinion as to why it did not happen.
Take the good with the bad when it comes to the fans. Belly aching is part of being a fan as much as cheering is. Sunshine and roses all the time is just boring and in my far less than expert opinion is evidence that you don't really want to think deeply about the team.
I enjoy all of it. It is all part of being a fan. The cheering, the criticizing, the back seat coaching, blind allegiance, the barking at each other about how stupid our opinions are, is each its own part of the tapestry of being invested in the team. It is all part of fandom. Relax and enjoy it all.

"Fan of Boston" Never met a Red Sox fan in Clemson, like ever. This is Braves country.
No, we don't want that toxic negativity. This isn't pro sports. This is college football and we need a positive image online for recruiting.

Two things I know:
1) Winning isn't easy 2) Dabo will get it turned around
I'm surprised that before the season even started Dabo didn't explain that "Offensively this is a rebuilding year for us so fans are going to need to be patient".
It would have tempered expectations and taken some of the pressure off the players. Hindsight is 20/20, but I have no doubt he'll make necessary adjustments to get things corrected.

I feel everyone deserves to be heard and everyone has a different opinion about how to fix our problems. Some have a scorched earth approach while others suggest different plays or how to use our players to the best advantage. Some people are panicking like it’s the end of Clemson as we know it. Then there are those of us who love Clemson for so many other reasons than football and our memories of the good and the bad far outweigh what’s happening right now. Whatever you think and want to share on the boards is certainly your right and I don’t have a problem with it until the name calling starts. That is so unnecessary to convey your opinion. We are talking about teenagers and young men who are under incredible pressure to perform. I don’t understand the things that are happening anymore than anybody else on the board but I can guarantee calling our players awful names or saying what losers they are will not help one single thing. It’s obvious they are reading social media so it stands to reason some if not all of them are seeing every ugly thing written about them in this board and maybe their parents and friends see it too. That only adds more pressure and anxiety to an already long list of troubles. Please can we think about what we are about to post before we press that button? All in for my Tigers and Clemson university no matter what! Now let’s go Tigers!

If TNET was nothing but posters singing praises all the time without any criticism/realistic observations at all?
Seems like everything has to be so binary these days. You're a pumper or a coot. So juvenile.
Let's also put into perspective that these coaches are being paid 100s of millions of dollars to win. It's not chicken feed.

A lot has happened since then and I put my trust in the coach who took us to heights I never dreamt possible the last time we had a crappy football season. I believe Dabo knows exactly what the problems are and the best ways to go about fixing them. Millions have gone out to a lot of coaches trying to get where Dabo has taken us and all with the exception of Alabama have fallen waaay short. Now if we were talking basketball......

I mean, I just don't think pointing out that a QB is playing absolutely horribly is off-limits. Nor do I think disagreeing about the portal, recruiting class sizes, and other things make you an ungrateful fan or coot, either.
Listen, very few of us here on TNET know what the heck we are talking about from a coaching perspective. I trust Dabo too. He says we will get better, I believe it. Can we argue fine points and discuss coaching decisions? Heck yeah! Personal attacks - not so cool.
Opinion policing is not cool either though.

Yeah I think we all see a lot of the same things. What I don’t like are the personal attacks on DJ or saying he sucks especially in the public forum. Guy works his butt off. Maybe if his receivers were out there running routes at midnight while he was throwing after a game it would help. Critiquing his game doesn’t bother me but the personal stuff has to go. It would be one thing if DJ was lazy or a troublemaker but he’s not. Saying the staff made some poor choices in roster management is one thing but saying they suck and need to be fired is another. Questioning the play calling is fine. The personal language used on here about Tony is not. He’s been the OC since 2014. We’ve had tremendous success since then. I’d understand if this were 2010 or the Bowden era but these guys have given us enough over the last few years that they have a lot of grace with me. Any realistic fan knew a season like this would come and although I didn’t expect it to be this year I was mentally prepared for it. Trashing a staff that set the bar as high as it is in the first place has never been wise in my opinion. I’ve seen other fan bases do it over the years thinking how ridiculous it was considering where we were as a program for the 20 years prior to Dabo. I would’ve gladly traded the success of some of those other programs over that time period. The criticism and demand for perfection made those fans look ungrateful and yet here we are doing the same. It’s human nature I guess. I remember thinking if we could just get back to where Ford had us we would be OK. Man I never would’ve dreamed we could be where we have been and yet we have all because of the man who is in charge of the program now. I’m forever grateful for the experiences I’ve had as a fan under Dabo’s tenure. BTW aren’t you glad Ford wasn’t fired in the mid 80s like some fans wanted?

Clemson is going to be "A" okay like our Coach said yesterday!
Remember the last Tommy West Season?? Remember that feeling, this year is not the end of our dominance, just hide and watch.

Tommy West was fired after his last season.

However, West had a track record of not progressing. (And, still beat SCar during his 3-8 season). Dabo has progressed and this team is in one of those valleys which occurs on the upward trend.

I get sick of hearing it so I vacation on my own. I toughed it out when Dabo first started coaching but after so many 10 win seasons, consecutive playoff appearance and two national championships I'm not going to hang out here if crump doesn't settle it down a bit.
I can't spend all day herding cats.

As No. 59 post to your entry: Yep, it's time for the 'others' on here to get a life or get on with theirs. Tiger Nation is about positives. There are plenty of other schools for the faint at heart.

Remember Javon Kinlaw last November tweeted: "Gamecock fans are the worst."
This is where we're headed with ya'll getting triggered 24/7 about the 2021 Tigers.
