after winning their last tourney and not dropping any sets, they shot up the rankings and got placed with better teams.

Game 1 - Girls got dominated by a team they have played really well against 3 times already this season. They hadn't played in a couple weeks and it showed, Spring Break hangover was real. Lost in straight sets.

Game 2 - Played a better team than Game 1 and kept it close, but ultimately lost by having stupid errors and bad serves, just giving away points. Lost first set but it was close, won second set, lost third set.

Game 3 - Lost in straight sets but kept it really close. Probably played their best VBall at times, but they got tired and the errors mounted.

Stuck around for 1.5 hours to see which game they had to work and ended up not having to work, so got home at 10:00 at night. Tourney was 3.5 hours from home near High Point. This was the last VBall tourney that I am going to for this year, this teams season is over.

If she makes the AAU National team, wife will be going to Raleigh and Orlando with her. Tryouts are wednesday.

Boys have soccer in Zebulon, NC and Jacksonville, NC this weekend. At the same time. FUUUUUCCCCKKKKK!

But I 100% don’t understand travel ball. My nephew, zero travel ball and heading to NCSU.

My niece, zero travel ball and softball at UGA.

My kids are doing the local rec league route for baseball. Our football program is insane good, so no need for movement.

I cannot for the life of me understand travel ball.

That would be very much the exception rather than the rule. College

coaches simply DO NOT scount HS games. At most they'll show up to further a relationship and observe a kid that is already on their radar.

Also, HS games (for sports not called Football) are significantly lower levels of play that what can be found at club, AAU, etc.

What sports are these kids playing? How did they get recruited?

Daughter's coach is a local College Coach and she said what TRDJ is saying

D1 coaches especially do not scout school ball, aint the time or competition level to judge properly. The AAU and travel tourneys are where you get scouted. That being said, my kids aint going to College for sports. We all know this and understand this. This is stressed to the kids, we are having fun and being competitive. When it aint fun anymore, we will re-evaluate what we are doing.

It ain't just D1. It's ALL coaches in ALL sports

except football.

I'd like for pawski to GITT and tell us what sport these kids play, if they are actually playing in college, and how that came about.

Not saying I don't believe him, just would like to know how the 1% (or less) actually happened.

she coaches JuCo so they do have slightly different rules that give them more time to watch and interact with high school athletes. They have a little more relaxed rules. Doesn't mean they do it, but they COULD.

NCAA restrictions kill alot of the other interactions, except for football. And they have staffs specific to recruiting.

No that's not what I was saying. Coaches CAN scout HS.

They just don't. Ever. Not in any sport other than football. And again this doesn't mean a coach won't turn up at a HS game, it's that they aren't there scouting. They are there to deepen relationships with kids/families they are already recruiting.

watching some of Iowa/UCONN in the lobby. There was a case of beer, another 12 pack, a couple bottles of wine, etc all on the table when we arrived. Some had been there since 5:00 or so.

We use to do the opposite for spring break tournaments at the beach

we would lose all of the pool play games. Get put in bracket E (the last bracket) and beat everybody and get a trophy.

60% of the time it worked every time.
