#2 Clemson defeats #1 Alabama in dominant fashion, routing the Tide 44-16 to win the 2018 College Football Playoff National Championship.

The remarkable performance drawing comments from all around the country, such as ESPN's Rece Davis stating that "Tonight felt like a changing of the guard. Clemson is now the program that is sitting at the top. Clemson became the premiere program in college football.” And ESPN's Scott Van Pelt stating that "Clemson was not on the same level as Alabama tonight. They were far superior." True freshman quarterback Trevor Lawrence lit the college football world and beyond on fire. Drawing comparisons to Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, and others, and being touted as "the best freshman quarterback of all time." Lawrence is just the 2nd freshman starting quarterback to ever lead his team to a national title (Jamelle Holieway, Oklahoma, 1985). Clemson plants their flag at the top of the college football mountain for the second time in three years, and third time overall.
