Tournament in New York again?

So lemme get this straight.
The ACC moved the football championship game from Charlotte because men couldn’t use the ladies’ room.
But now we’re cool with the basketball tournament in NYC, where many of the players (or at least their families) would be banned from restaurants like it’s the 1960s?
Makes sense…

not sure where the 60's reference comes from. But what annoys me is it's never ever been held in SC the state of two ACC founding members. Never in almost 60 years. That is just wrong and Clemson should have never gone along with that.

I guess it keeps Boeheim happy who has been in the conference less than 10 years now.

Syracuse is the first team I would like to see leave the conference. The rest are ok.

Protocols to the civil rights movement. His asinine argument is that restricting folks from a restaurant based on their vaccine status or if they choose to wear a mask is just as bad as doing it based on race. This is just a feeble attempt to move his discussion from the politics board onto a sports board by pretending it’s actually about basketball.

You are incorrect about the category of this topic. It is clearly about the ACC as it relates to championships in their major sports (basketball begins today).
The “leadership” of the ACC has made this political. I did not.
Black people have taken the injections at a lower rate than other races, and the government in NYC have purposely put the clamps down on them. You know it. You just don’t care. Or maybe you even like it.
If bathroom preference is enough to abruptly move a football championship game, then the basketball tournament also could have been moved away for a much bigger issue…from a location where it should probably never take place anyway.

Your propensity to miss the point
A. I too was pissed about the ACC championship game move since, at the time, I lived 15 minutes from BOA stadium and had to travel 500+ miles to see the game. I let my vote show it as well and voted against every incumbent in the succeeding elections that had anything to do with it at both the local and state levels. However it wasn’t moved because of toilet freedom it was because of the sweeping reversal of all legal protections due to HB2. For a short time in NC due to HB2 it was legal for an employer to fire someone simply because they were gay, which I’m sure you find completely acceptable, It was rules like this and many others that led to almost everyone boycotting NC. The ACC was just one of very many. If the State government has just simply quashed the local bathroom ordinance, like they had done several times before, without removing all protections we would all have just moved on with our lives and you would never of even heard of it. But it turned into a pissing match between CLT and Raleigh and everyone lost.
B. Your contention that Covid restrictions are designed to be racist is just too stupid to address and belongs on one of you conspiracy websites not a Clemson sports forum
C. Move this to the P&R board it has nothing to do with basketball.

We get it.
You want men allowed in the ladies bathroom, but you like restricting where black people can go.
I happen to disagree with you wholeheartedly, and we can leave it at that.
Have a wonderful day.
Go Tigers!

The addition of BC was the dumbest d@mn thing ever....

Swofford sold it as expanding the conference's television footprint which was total bull$#!7. People in New England don't give a rats rump about the ACC. They care about the Red Sox, the Celtics, the Patriots and the Bruins.
Swofford's motives for adding BC were entirely self-serving and nepotistic because his son worked for BC at the time, before moving on to Raycom where, you may recall, Swofford bent over backwards (again) to accommodate Raycom when the conference television deal with ESPN was being structured.
BC brings nothing to the conference athletically and frankly, should be kicked to the curb. The addition of Syracuse and Pitt make a bit more sense but not much more.

I think the tournament should be in one location and not move around. It should be a true neutral site game and not be like the old tournament at Reynolds. It should also be easily accessible for air travel and interstates. The tournament should be in Charlotte. All of this moving around has never made sense to me.

I agree, Charlotte is perfect for it.

It’s even good for the environment because there are plenty of hotel rooms within easy walking distance to the the games. If you go to a game in Greensboro, all you see outside is a sea of gas guzzling cars as far as the eye can see. It’s just so nauseating. Maybe pushing this narrative would work.
Less drunk driving, too.

Speaking of hypocritical...

The ACC moved the baseball tournament from Greenville where it enjoyed record attendance and profits because playing there was an unfair advantage for Clemson.
So...most years now, it's played in Greensboro or Durham but apparently that is not an unfair advantage for Duke, Wake, Nancy State and UNCheat.
Similarly, the hoops tournament is played in Greensboro far more often than not which is apparently also not an unfair advantage for the Tobacco Road schools.
Hypocrisy indeed !!!!

Personally, I think the members of the team and their families are excited to play the tournament in NYC, a place they (and their family) most likely have never visited. CLT makes sense for the conference as a whole but rotating locations is also rewarding in other ways, outside of convenient locations to certain schools.

Brooklyn, Greensboro, Washington, Charlotte and occasionally Atlanta. The 2023 tournament is back in Greensboro (shocker !!!) and the 2024 tournament will be played in Washington.
