Clemson doesnt need the ACC to do anything. We ARE the ACC. Clemson wins Championships. We carry the conference. I hope the ACC loses every bowl game, hate 'em all. Do you think Alabama and Georgia care about the SEC? They leave it to bottom feeders like South Carolina

No, I don’t think who I “pull for” changes the outcome.
Yes, conference wins matter. Maybe not in bowl games, but they shape perception which shapes ranking, which shapes SOS, which lends itself to who gets in and who doesn’t.
You don’t have to like it, but conference matters. If it didn’t, everyone would be happy to stay in ACC.

Not really.
It's very rare that I pull for Tennessee, Auburn, LSU, Bama, or Florida, and I usually have a bit of a chuckle when they lose. Probably every UGA fan I know feels about the same way. Teams like Ole Miss, Miss St, Ark, Kentucky, Missouri, or Tex A&M don't really move the needle for me one way or the other.
Understanding that a conference is strong is different from "pulling for" the other teams in that conference.

The SEC cared big time when undefeated Aub was left out

with for undefeated Tex and USC.
From that point on, the SEC propaganda machine has just meant more
And you’re right, you may not pull for individual teams that you mentioned, but you know you need your conference perception to be strong or you get left out.

Do you mean 2004? That was Oklahoma and USC - not Texas. But either way, I wasn't too heartbroken over Auburn being left out. Quite the contrary.

SEC does have several better teams in football .
Clemson can only represent themselves.
They do a good job
Playing tomorrow in their 50th post season.

The conference arguement is simple. Would you rather beat good or bad teams? Why does Clemson and FSU want to get out of the ACC? If the quality of football was like the SEC, the ACC would have a better TV contract. Why would you want an ACC team you played this year to lose the other games. Everytime a team you played losses, it diminishes your win or exacerbates your loss. Have you ever heard a coach bragg about beating a bunch of bad teams? When the ACC does good against other conferences, people on this board will bragg about the ACC. When the ACC does bad, they say they only care about Clemson and could care less about the rest of the conference. If and when the ACC ship sinks and you don't have a life raft, you go down with the rest of the ACC.

Very true. It hurts but we need to see Nancy State win this bowl game.

Well one thing that certainly didn’t help was FSU struggling to beat Louisville right after Louisville lost to Kentucky. This was mentioned over and over. And I assure you an undefeated SEC champ will never miss the top 4 because of an injured QB. The reputation of your conference impacts the value of your record. And there is resentment if it’s felt you skated on a weak schedule. Resentment that will be used against you when possible.

It's not about "liking" them. You want the teams you play against to win as many of their other games as possible (unless they're in direct position to knock you out of a postseason spot). The reason for this is because it improves your ranking and gives you more credibility. And I'm seeing a lot of people responding to that by saying "well let's just go undefeated" or "let's just win the conference every year." That's a stupid argument. Look, I wanna go 12-0 and win the ACC each year as much as anybody. But the point is, if Clemson has to be perfect every year to make the playoff, but teams in other conferences have much greater margin for error and can get away with losing multiple games, that puts Clemson at a competitive disadvantage, and none of us should want that. You don't want to have to fall back on that type of protection, but you want it to be there when you need it. I don't give a rip about the other ACC teams, I just generally want them to win so that it makes Clemson look better.

Did you really mean to say you hope all ACC teams but one lose? 'Cause if you want our Tigers to lose then you best go find another board, and another hole to crawl back into.

I'm not a conference homer. I don't pull for other conference teams and I'm sure most Bama and UGA folks don't either. But, BAMA and UGA are not who they are without the SEC.
