I am sure there will be some abuse. But if not for Stewart, McConnell never would have given the GOP senate members the OK to vote in favor of this. 2 months ago this would not have received a single vote from the GOP.
Lee and Paul where the only two to vote against this bill in the name of "fiscal responsibility"
I wonder, because I am too busy to look this up, if they voted in Favor of Trump's Tax Bill.

Trump's tax bill was revenue neutral

It was a sham basically, which we all know. Revenues did not drop at all. Deficits did increase because debt interest increased by a nearly identical amount. Of course the news you will read will blame Trump's tax "cuts". I'm lucky I didn't pay more because if not for child #3 to offset the loss of my mortgage deduction, I would have paid more in taxes.

sham?

Far More people paid less taxes last year than the year before. The poor continued paying little to nothing.
As you referenced, total govt revenues increased due to increased positive economic activity.
If that’s a sham, I’ll take more shams.
This would be a good spot for a sham-wow pun, but it’s too early for me to think of one.

corporate revenue is way down, payroll tax revenue is up. The two did not offset.
people making under 75k will actually see their taxes go up even higher than they were before in a couple of years.
our deficit spending is growing under trump, this is fact.

unlike SS eventually there will be no more 9-11 survivors so the fund will die with them. The clock on slave reparations died with the last person born in bondage (what’s left is pandering). Now if you want to talk Jim Crow reparations, there are folks out there that still have a claim.
Glad they did the right thing. Veterans should be next.

You act like most Republicans agreed. Hardly any did. Your "win" was one for the First Responders, not the politicians in office.

Rand’s basic premise was “show me how we will pay for this and I’m all for it” and the left acts like he’s walking up to the WTC Memorial, unzipping his pants, and taking a giant rotating 360-degree hands-free whiz.
This would be akin to your wife coming home and saying “honey there are a lot of poor people in Detroit who need help—I’m going to give a debit card from our account to the local soup kitchen to use when they need funding”, and then somehow you becoming the poor-hating diiick when you ask where the money is coming from.
If this makes Rand an a-hole, we need a lot more a-holes.

I am not sure that this is the fight, that you want to fight though. I think the fight comes in entitlements, and military and medicare/medicaid cuts. I do not think this is the fight in order to keep your head above water and get reelected.
I get what you are saying 100% and I like Rand and his stances, however, this isn't the issue to to fight.

politically unpopular hill.
There’s always a reason to spend more money. Oppose military spending and he’s against the troops. Oppose entitlements and he’s against the poor or old. Oppose Dep of Ed spending and he doesn’t care about the children. Always, always something. He just wants us to be responsible. Apparently that’s too much to ask.

Yes, a congress woman who got quoted saying something you take out of context and overexaggerate to fit your own biased personal narrative is the villain and not the country that spawned and supported the terrorist(The Saudis).
Why are you not mad at all the congress people that continue to support that country? Why not the president who bends over for them to take it on the regular from them?
No, some freshman congress person said something... HOLY #### HOW CAN WE SURVIVE THAT. THE HORROR OF IT ALL.
That makes perfect sense. I am glad you are here to show us all where we should direct our angry. To think I was confused and thought the terrorist and the people that spawned and paid for them were the bad guys.

Can someone explain this fund?
Jul 24, 2019, 10:40 AM
|
|
I assume that all of the organizations involved...police, fire fighters, etc....have a program in place for those who get injured on the job. Does this fund include other people? Are their injuries not covered? Is it because those services were overwhelmed? How many people does it impact?
If it’s in the article just tell me and I’ll read it there. I don’t know if this program is necessary or not, but a Jon Steward plea doesn’t move the needle for me.
