The Silver Lining - Culling of Bandwagoneers

Let the exodus of coattail riders continue. Real fans will stick around with positivity and support for our team. Meanwhile those that didn’t bother to learn the names of the players and staff until Dabo took down Alabama will leave this message board and we can go through the rest of the season free from your incessant negativity. If you were here before the run of CFP appearances then you have perspective on this program and how far we are from the cellar that naysayers keep putting us in. This program is still in the top tier of college football.

Saw a lot of encouraging things out there against the media’s darling and what is thought to be a top 3 team. We all know we should have won and it was close. Close counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. We lost. Shouldn’t have with the way the boys put out today but we did. This staff is as talented as our players and things will get turned around. Taking this one on the chin and get ready to lace ‘em up for next week.

Here’s to all the true Tigers out there that will be here to see the rise and resurgence of our team. The Roaring Twenties are just getting started.

P.S. Deuces Quitters, you’re either ALL IN or ALL OUT. There is no middle ground.

I have been on the Bandwagon since Danny days. Hatfield, West, Bowden, were bad times. Stayed in the bandwagon. This is disgusting, because we have the potential to be so much more than we are.

You must have a pretty good spot on the wagon by now! I know there are far more around here like you and that the majority of negative posts are being made by a minority of bandwagoneers that are new to the party.

I was born on the wagon early in the Hatfield era and our Tigers have never failed to be a bright spot in my life. We are blessed to have such a great program and it angers me to see people acting so disgraceful it regards to the recent performance. Tigers are supposed to be better than that.

"our Tigers have never failed to be a bright spot in my life."

You have the classic perspective of someone who has not been through the bad times. If you live through season after season of bad times, and then you have some sustained success, you never want to go back. This is why it is hard for people who have actually seen how bad it can get. We never want to go back to that again, and we get frustrated when we see it start to slip away, particularly when much of it can be attributed to self-inflicted wounds on a number of fronts.

Walk in our shoes a few miles and see how well you keep that great positive attitude.

I said our Tigers have never failed to be a bright spot in my life.

What I didn’t say was that they always win. Watching the game today was still a highlight of my week despite the disappointing loss.

I remember watching the Tommy’s underperform after Hatfield was canned. I understand where Clemsoning came from. I know what bad football looks like. That’s not what we have right now. We no longer worry about suffering through 6-6 or worse years.

This team is talented. The staff is talented. It would be great to believe in the success that Dabo has shown in the last decade plus and have a little faith that he will continue to put a high level team on the field.

You realize we are on track for 6 and 7 win seasons. In football, it's not far from the top of the hill to mediocrity.

“Tigers are supposed to be better than that”. I think that is the reason people is upset. We should be better, but due to transfer portal neglect and poor coaching hires we are not better than the mediocrity that we are currently experiencing.

If calling a fact a fact is disgraceful, so be it.
Dabo needs a reality check. The game evolved at light speed. He stayed the same. He will not win doing what he is doing.

Pointing out the clear flaws in our football program doesn't make you a bandwagoner.

This staff is far from talented.

Sep 23, 2023, 4:48 PM

The list of ‘clear flaws’ is absurd

Dabo sucks
Garrett Riley is the worst offensive coordinator in the country
Wes Goodwin is a talentless hack
Our players are horrible and we need to PROTAL in other team’s refuse

I could keep going into TLDR territory with the garbage criticisms that have been polluting the boards lately

Sep 23, 2023, 5:05 PM [ in reply to Re: The Silver Lining - Culling of Bandwagoneers ]

On this staff is the #1 rising OC, the understudy of the best DC ever to coach college football, Mike Reed, and Nick Eason.

As for the head ball coach, he didn’t amass the success he has by cheerleading. He is also extremely talented and has a very high football IQ.

I will allow a certain level of criticism for some of the other position coaches that maybe shouldn’t have made it past the GA level. It would be nice to get Jeff Scott back with the WRs. Some of the others definitely need to prove their worth.

As a whole this program has produced a dozen straight 10 win seasons. That doesn’t happen without good coaches

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

They are not very good in game situations

Sep 23, 2023, 5:36 PM

When the win is on the line.

Prevent Defense to end first half - FSU scores
Trying a Chad Morris play at the end of regulation- playing for the kick with a guy you just brought back - missed FG
In OT when you need 6 inches - calls a play that allows an inexperienced but good QB to make s decision- should be no decision- QB run and get pushed 2x.

Clock mgmt has alway been horrific- this isn’t anything new.

No surprise seeing you here.

Did you copy and paste this from after Brad said we would get to the 2nd round of the NIT?

I know you take great pleasure in trolling the football team and you’ve been doing it long before any CFP. We must claim you as a fan and most of your takes have some form of merit.

Ughhh. These are the absolute worst posts on this board. You can still recognize problems in the program, make criticisms, and support the team. It’s not all or nothing. Really can’t stand this mentality because it leads to complacency.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: The Silver Lining - Culling of Bandwagoneers

1

Sep 23, 2023, 5:15 PM

If this is complacency I’ll take it. The only team to match Clemsons success in the CFP era is Saban and his perennial #1 recruiting class.

I’ll take Dabo doing more with less and running a solid football program any day. I know our Tigers can match up with any program in the country and perform. I am more certain of that after today.

Nobody thought Clemson would keep up with FSU but instead they beat them up and down the field and had the lead until the very end before handing the game away - better yet throwing it away on a screen pass.

Loving the complacency out of our new OC Dabo went out and got while he was just sitting around letting his empire crumble

Who cares if we win or lose, right?

I guess you're one of those who believes in "participation trophies"?

Life is hard. Winning is hard. For 11 million dollars, you need to win more, period.

Life, like it or not, is about results, not your feelings.

Re: Who cares if we win or lose, right?

Sep 23, 2023, 5:35 PM

I don’t let my own kids keep participation trophies.

Would love to see them win every game and every Natty. Nobody can do that. Saban and Day can’t do it with constant top 3 classes. Kirby Smart won’t do it. Look at the NFL where they buy all of their players. The closest one to winning them all since Miami was Brady and he dropped a game he should have won to Eli.

Winning matters. That’s why you play. This is a winning program and the end of the season will tell if it was a winning team. But to say it’s Natty or bust every year simply because we pay top dollar to retain one of the greatest coaches in the history of CFB is insane.

The only coach that has won more than Dabo in the last decade is Saban. Dabo does ‘win more.’

Hoping you folks who can’t admit/accept where we are at any given time will GO AWAY. The only reason you won’t admit reality is you are GONNA QUIT whenever reality sets in. BYE. Good riddance.

If we are back to hoping for the occasional shot at ACC title I’m all in.

Agreed!

You can just about tell them too. Some of them come on here and "seem like they know what they are talking about". But, in the end something will give it away.

I was a kid when the Tigers won it in 1981 and I still call that one my favorite. You simply have to keep things in perspective and this becomes another thing that makes championships so special.

Yes, even division(gone away now) or Conference Championships. Or the bowl game wins.

You have to take the good with the bad! If not as you so well stated(OP); to me you are a bandwagoneer!

This program is no longer elite, hate to break it to you. And I was around after Ford was fired. The Hatfield years, the West years, the Bowden years, getting beat 5 years in a row by the coots, while living in that #### hole Columbia….it sucked. It all sucked.

I’m a Clemson grad, and a member of IPTAY. If I want to come on here and ##### about the regression of Clemson Football, I’ll do it. Don’t call me a band wagon fan because I’m not a member of your Dabo Cult.

For the first time since 2010, we are 0-2 in the ACC.
We are currently 1-4 versus P5 schools since losing to the coots at home last November. Clemson and Dabo ask us fans to pay up and show up, and watch a crap show, while he makes over $11 mil/year.

You keep on pumping tho

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Well said LC

Sep 23, 2023, 6:52 PM

We are three and five in our last eight power five games.

Like duke, this FSU team is not elite. Definitely quite good …but not elite. An elite Clemson team beats this Florida state team bythree touchdowns at least. but give them credit, they found a way to win. The elite FSU teams under Bowden would have destroyed this Florida State team

We have more issues than people realize. All of them are fixable, but many of them are self-inflicted.

I’ve been around since the red Parker days. There is nothing wrong in expecting better than this.
