Y’all. I’ve slowly changed my opinion of Wes. Initially I didn’t like him as DC mainly because he lacked the intensity of Venables. However, I think that if he has the talent, he can field top defenses and put them in the right position. The defense has definitely not been the problem this year. I don’t see Dabo making a change with Wes. Thoughts?

The defense has carried the team and hasn’t seemed to complain at all about that. Wes Goodwin has done a fantastic job… find another 2nd year DC doing what he’s doing. Can’t do it.
Go Defense and Tigers
P.S. Cade is coming y’all!

I think Wes is fine as DC. I’d love to see him in the booth calling the plays while perhaps a co DC is on the sideline bringing the fire and intensity. I’d love to see more fire.

BV wasn’t in the booth and neither are a lot of other DC’s. They want to be close to the action. I don’t care if Wes doesn’t need a get back coach taking up space. I care about defensive performance and that has been good and getting better. Recruiting seems to be going well given all the freshman talent showing on defense so I’m good with Wes.

I have thought all along that it would be interesting to see Wes in the booth and Coach Eason running the sideline. Mainly because Wes was so good in the booth before becoming DC and to let Coach E bring the intensity out more on the field.

I'm pretty sure he was in the booth under BV so with experience there, he should have a pretty good feel of where he can be the most effective. If he chooses to be on the field, I'm good with that.

We're good with Wes. I think being a coordinator, you have to have a Lot of "feel" for the game while it is going on. Im not sure it's something you learn being a analyst. I think the only way to learn that is to be thrown into the fire like he has been. Looking to me like he's adapted pretty dang well.

The defense has been the highlight this season. I didn’t get why people wanted Wes to be fired in the first place. I do think that there will be changes in position coaches which is needed on the offensive side.

I totally agree he wasn’t on keep list . But as he gets more games under his belt I am seeing him adjusting tha defense to be more aggressive. Got rid of the nfl mentality aka 3 man front - prevent defense or as I call it prevents you from winning. Fla. State is a game that the 3 man front possibly cost us the game especially on the drive right before the half. I coached some high school ball years ago and as a defensive coordinator on the JV level being aggressive was my motto. I am starting to see this in Goodwin . As the old saying of a defensive coach “ offense sells tickets but defense win games “ and 68 years old I still believe in that saying. Adapt and overcome is what it looks like what Goodwin is doing and I for one am starting to like what I see from him.

I agree with all of these comments. I’m fine with Wes. The proof is in the product on the field and he’s got that.
