The Difference

Nov 2, 2015, 3:09 PM

Anyone who reads my posts sees one common thing, I love Dabo and everything he stands for and am 100% on board with his every game is the biggest game idea, and also think he was a genius to bring in the assistants that he has today. I credit Dabo 100% for the forward progress and national recognition of this program. He one was the first change in TigerTown that has got us to where we are today.

But is he the only change? No. In fact, I see a change from previous teams that Dabo has coached in this years team.
Along with a superstar QB who seems like he is just now getting 100% comfortable, I see the entire team around him beginning to "find their place and comfort" if you will. It's a positive that has come from the recent climb, they are more comfortable in the spotlight.

But again, is that all? In my opinion, its not. Last year before the RAB there was much talk about whether Dabo made the correct choice, I mean we are Clemson.. Co-OC??
However, I from day 1 believed it was right. Why? Because Dabo thought it was right, and Dabo cares more and knows more about this program that any of us on the outside.

So on November 2, 2015 on this rainy day in Clemson I want to highlight some things.
First... The Co-OCs seem to be settling in, having Watson at the helm no doubt is an advantage. But no one can deny the difference we have seen in the last two weeks with the offense.
I do have to say though, a lot of the credit we are giving to the offense needs to be given back to the defense, sure they had a rough game this weekend, but they have been outstanding yet again this year with so many changes. That is directly because Dabo knew he wanted Venables and went and got him and I believe he is a top 5 DC in the country.
Also though, the offense has done their fair share of work to deserve the respect. We have for those of you who don't know now beat 2 top 5 defensive clubs this year with a certain level of comfort.
The last point I make for the offense is what I believe is the biggest reason for our success so far this year. In recent years with the Chad, we became a certain level of predictable (He was a great OC I am not knocking him at all). But Elliot and Scott have seemed to figure out, winning is all that matters. We don't have to run and pass both 20 times, we can run the ball 40 times if it is working, we can pass the ball 40 times if that is working. I love that they do not rely on one aspect of the offense to win games, and believe it has led directly to an efficient and winning offense.

Second... I want to say the one thing I believe needs changing if we are to make a playoff run. SPECIAL TEAMS. Yes field goals have been at least average if not better, but seriously? Blocked extra points? Running back kickoffs? These are just things that can't happen against top tier teams if we are going to continue to win.

I don't care what the change is on special teams, and I don't even care how they do it. All I know is this team is DIFFERENT and is ready to make a run. Make the change to special teams, and sit back and watch this offense put up numerous touchdowns while the defense is causing havoc.

Enjoy this weekend as the semiholes come to town, we WILL be ready.

Go Tigers!
