The arrogance of ND knows no ends

17

Aug 10, 2023, 9:28 AM

…let’s push to invite schools who add zero value to the bottom line and yet we are going to play part time in your league

Screw you Irish - if you so truly cared about the league you’d be a full time member

I feel better

we'll take Stanford if you (ND) joins the conference for football also.

That was my first thought--we'll take those two schools if ND joins as well.

And Notre Dame is happy you do but will continue to be a member as long as they want to.

I think it is pretty clear they won't be a member much longer. Their NBC contract is coming up for renewal and 2024 is the last year they are contractually committed to join the ACC if they decide to stop being independent in football.

I'd say the dye is already cast and their intentions are well telegraphed...

ND's ACC contract is until 2036.***

Not in football... And the only advantage we had to get them in football was the agreement that if they stopped being independent, they had to join the ACC but that expires next year. And 100M exit fee probably won't keep them from leaving the ACC in all sports.

What dummy (Swofford) would give them a full vote to boot. If they want a vote on womans field hockey... fine. Football, absolutely not! This league has had no leadership in my lifetime!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Givng them the full voting rights....

1

Aug 10, 2023, 10:01 AM

when they are an independent in football is clear cut conflict of interests with the ACC suffering the consequences. Why would they ever vote to strengthen ACC football ?

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Surprising the league/conference was able to keep that ....

information(ND having a vote like a legit member) under wraps until now—

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The ACC should have told them to go pound sand in 2020 when

1

Aug 10, 2023, 10:03 AM

they got themselves into a schedule bind. They should have reaped what they sowed. Butt, as usual, the ACC was nutless.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Just one more reason to get out of ACC.

1

Aug 10, 2023, 10:04 AM

Short-sighted leadership. Make long term decisions to solve a current crisis without considering the long term consequences.

1. GOR. When ACC signed it, it seemed like a good idea. B1G had just poached MD. Fear was B1G and SEC would poach other teams from ACC. Solution - sign a contract that would make it way too expensive to leave the conference. Tie teams in for 20 years. Great idea, at the time.

2. ND as a partial member. Sounded like a great idea. Upgrade football schedule, get ND to play 5 games a year. Get ND as full member in all other sports. Get them with one foot in the door so that it will be easier to get them to join as a full member. Downside? Not one. What could possibly go wrong?

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I really don't see any downside to the ND agreement that

1

Aug 10, 2023, 10:47 AM

occurred. Besides people just not liking it because it's easy to bash without reasoning, it has benefited the ACC. And particularly Clemson…those wins against ND helped bolster the reputation of Clemson when it was needed and we were great, the exposure has helped, the SOS addition was sorely needed, and quite frankly the way it was set up made ND more of a football member to Clemson (and every other school) than anyone across divisions…UNC, VT etc... we've played and were set to play ND more often than any other non-division rival.

Re: I really don't see any downside to the ND agreement that

Aug 10, 2023, 11:26 AM

I don't see downside to them joining initially, but I'd like to see more upside by them joining in football. That would be the single biggest reason the ACC might have a chance of keeping it all together and remaining relative as the #3 conference.

However, ND is going to do what is best for ND and they don't see that as the best option.

2024 purple level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

truly amazing any other ACC school would agree to this w/out

1

Aug 10, 2023, 10:11 AM

Notre Dame joining full time.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So ND, who negotiated a full voting share when they joined,

Aug 10, 2023, 10:42 AM

shouldnt be able to use their vote and influence? It'd be absurd if they didn't.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

and heck apparently 11 schools were on board with it

Aug 10, 2023, 11:00 AM

all the more reason to get out of this garbage conference

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: The arrogance of ND knows no ends

Aug 10, 2023, 12:05 PM

Perhaps I dont understand what it means to be a member. ND has voting rights. They play 5 ACC teams per year. The other ACC teams play 8 conference games a year. So, essentially, ND is a 5/8ths member to me. That seems to be more a member of a conference than an Independent. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: The arrogance of ND knows no ends

Aug 11, 2023, 5:00 AM

is there anything binding ND or is it somewhat like having dual citizenship, US & Great Britain, w/ the ability to option out of one to the other whenever a beneficial situation presents itself—

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: The arrogance of ND knows no ends

Aug 10, 2023, 8:43 PM

They get buy with it because ACC kisses the tail. Should kick their tail out.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If it weren't for Clemson, ND would have an ACC Championship

Aug 10, 2023, 9:05 PM

..in football the ONE year they were in it. Imagine hearing that the rest of your life!
