Always thought it was overrated, and that their fan base was unrealistic. Good to know I've been so wrong.

Sounds like another job down in the middle part of South Carolina. Wins 10 games a few times in 100 years and wants to talk about "we'll be back" all the time.

Any school that hires Chip Kelly...

should immediately be placed on NCAA probation for hiring a coach who is known to have committed major NCAA rules violations. As I recall, under Kelly's watch, Oregon was found guilty of using scouting services which in turn landed them on 3 years of NCAA probation in addition to a reduction of scholarships.

they'd be better off going for someone like Dino Babers...players respect him, good coach, and gets him away from Syracuse.

I'd love to see Gruden

Gruden cracks me up every time I see him commentating on Monday night. Dude is PASSIONATE (to say the least) about what he does. He'd be a great college coach, people love him.

So what you're saying is it's between Les, and Peyton
Oct 26, 2017, 1:26 PM
|
|
...because Jon Gruden ain't coming out of retirement for Tennessee.
Looks like they need to widen their net.
Chip Kelley doesn't have any interest in coaching in the SEC (or anywhere down south for that matter). He's a PAC 12 guy.
UT is a fine Football school, but even mentioning Jon Gruden's name makes them sound silly.

They have deep pockets, a passionate fanbase

...and tradition. They haven't been relent in forever, for sure.
It's not like they're South Carolina, it's just a matter of time before they're relevant again. Somebody will always want that job...it's a good one...just not as good as some of their fans think.

0% chance Peyton Manning is their coach next year. Has zero coaching experience. This isn't the NBA where a player can retire and then become a head coach shortly after

My sources in Knoxville have it between Granny Holtz and Lane Kiffagain . There may be an outlier ...a dark horse waiting in the wings . That person has coached there before . I will get with my people up there on if this rumor has legs ...and Phil you all in Fulmer .

I could have told you years ago that he was a bad coach, just based on the shape of his face.
