Success for 2023

For 2023 to be considered a successful season, what does Dabo and the boys need to accomplish? Beat Florida State and or Notre Dame? Win Conference championship? Top 10 ranking (end of season) 🤔 Since I went to ND game last year, I’d be mildly satisfied with Notre Dame coming into town undefeated, and Tigers embarrassing them on National TV.

Beat ND and South Carolina

In my book, everything else is gone due to the loss at Duke. I am so sick of my neighbors beating their chests over ND's 28-0 or whatever against the ACC (*in reg season games).

And South Carolina 'cause last year was unacceptable. If Neff would have fired Dabo after that game, I would have been "good!!". Even though that would be silly, that is how distressing that loss was.

For me, I think at least a 10 win season, beat SC, and making the ACC Championship game would be the minimum expectation.

Make the ACC Championship Game and get revenge and beat South Carolina. Making it to Charlotte and beating the Coots should be the expectation every year. Winning the ACC should be the next goal and if there are years that makes the Playoffs, that is the next.

Same as every season, beat SC and win the bowl game.***

There's something in these hills.

I would take 2 wins over FSU

With the implication that means Clemson plays FSU in the ACCCG.

Beating FSU twice will have the MAXIMUM impact on the NATIONAL perception of Clemson’s fall from grace.

Anything that happens after 2 wins over FSU, will take care of itself from there, and I can live with that.

Win 10 regular season games, plus win the bowl game.

I would like to say go 11-1 in the regular season, but there are some stout teams out there this year, at least one of which will beat us unless we improve, QUICKLY.

To accomplish even my goal requires some combination of beating everyone left on our schedule other than either FSU or ND. The Coots MUST go down, that is non-negotiable.

Obviously, if we have to lose to FSU, I would prefer it to be in the regular season, and win a rematch in the ACC Championship game. But, given our loss to Duke, a second regular season loss could keep us OUT of said ACC Championship game.

Lots of uncertainty at this point in time. But, we have been here before, recently. Continuing the ten game minimum wins per season streak looked bleak in 2021 after a 4-3 start. But, we ran the table to do it. It's not impossible, but it IS a daunting task. Clemson has never run from a challenge under Dabo Swinney, and I don't expect us to do it now.

At this point a realistic successful season would be 9-3 and a decent bowl. A great season would be 10-2.
