Makes you wonder if 9 conference games are on the horizon and what future non-con opponent(s) will be kicked to the curb. Very curious to see how this shakes out.

With the SEC eventually going to 9 and the B1G possibly going to 10 in the near future non-conference scheduling will get a lot more difficult. The best case would be to follow Dabo’s model to allow opponents at spring games and a pre season game against FBS opponents.

Hopefully they move to the 40 team big 2 soon so we can incorporate some of these concepts and not lose out on big matchups in the short term.

Looks like two main options at this point, provided all 17 teams remain in the next 4 years (very unlikely!).

Either eliminate permanent rivals, stay at 8 conference games, and play each team once at home and once away over 4 years.

Or, go to 9 conference games, drop to two permanent rivals (play each year), and play remaining 14 teams once at home and once away over 4 years.
