Now and forever. I don't care what reason that human trash has for coming here. Screw him. That is all.

For a brief time he put Clemson on the basketball map and then he left for extremely greener pastures.

... "Greener Pastures" ... that in a nut shell is the entire problem throughout the history of Clemson basketball.
We need a guy who sees Clemson as a "pasture" he can nurture himself. This most certainly does NOT describe Rick Barnes.
Our hoops slogan should be BYOF ... "Bring Your Own Fertilizer" ... and this is no Bull Sh!t !!

has more to do with the students and parents then it does with the public school system. has to be the "want to" to succeed in any school. achieving the minimums to pass takes very little effort.

Yes, this is more to the truth. I've noticed many of my fellow South Carolinians don't respect what an education can do for a person and much less those that have one.

If Barnes wasn't confident he could take Clemson to the top of the ACC back then, he certainly would not have what it takes to do it today. He was sure he'd "peaked" at Clemson and when Texas offered, he jumped while the jumping was there to be done.
I don't necessarily blame him, but I sure would not welcome him back.
Things were fun while he was here, but I think his effort at Clemson had plateaued and was probably on its way down when he left. The ACC in general (and UNC in particular) hated him and there's no reason to believe that attitude would have changed.
He'd fight the same battles he fought when he was here, trying to batter UNC/Duke, etc. into submission with his "Bully Ball" tactics that the ACC was obviously not going to permit.

He didn't leave in the middle of the night like the coward OP did. The only reason people are mad at Rick is because he did things we've never seen. Bully ball LOL I don't see the hate here for OP

chunk of dried crap hanging off a cows ### that he is. Gave no indication to the program, players, or fans just showed up in the news holding up a hookem horns sign.
I don't care for OPP either, but I heard that he at least tried to meet with our AD before leaving and was refused.

Neither guy could make Clemson a winner long term and they knew it.
Barnes basically wanted to play football on the court, and Purnell was happy to just hold a track meet.
They successfully tried those new tactics and they worked for a while, but the ACC caught on to Barnes and caught up to Purnell.

He gave us something to cheer about after the football program tanked. It's not his fault the administration doesn't take basketball seriously enough to pay him. They also let Purnell leave as well. Clemson is nothing more than a stepping stone or a stumbling block for basketball coaches. It's really sad. I enjoyed watching Clemson basketball there for a couple of years. Those days are far behind us.
