Roosevelt actually replaced his VP twice. In 1940 he changed from John Garner to Henry Wallace. In 1944 he changed from Wallace to Harry Truman:

That would go against everything he and the Dems stand for - identity politics, quotas, and most of all - their penchant for helping all of the disadvantaged (which would be anyone who's not a white male). We all know none of "those people" can do anything without the aide of the old white guys in power!
