Yesterdays game was impressive. McCubbin continues to struggle a bit but yesterday should go a long way towards bringing her confidence back. Spencer has turned into a legitimate ace. Thompson is starting to show that she’s regained her form from two years ago prior to the rare disease she developed and had to undergo surgery. Her pitching arm is very scarred but seems to have regained velocity and control.

Perhaps the most impressive signs were the freshman stepping their game up. It seems Rittman has built sustainable success with great recruiting instincts. I was afraid with Val out of the lineup we may struggle. They seemed to thrive in her absence. Grace Hiller is playing well at first and her bay is coming alive. Maddie Moore is seeing the ball well and crushing it. We are finally seeing dangerous hitters from top to bottom. That’s when a team is hard to handle. Shutdown pitchers with 6-9 hole hitters as dangerous as 1-5 hole hitters. A healthy Cagle will make this group hard to beat!

I think Hiller just needed ABs. She batted over .400 for her high school career. Unfortunately, she has been stuck behind some really good players and didn't get many opportunities. Sadly, we won't be able to see if she could keep improving since this will be her last year at Clemson.

There's several that could have been playing last year and this year. We play plenty of teams that said players could have been in the field and batting. But Rittman refused and refuses to play them. He could give Oda a couple nights off. He could DP for jojo Hyatt when she's catching and Val was pitching. He could have used another player to DP instead of letting Hyatt DP.
