Based purely on the spring game and the bowl game i expect

we will see a very, very conservative offense designed to minimize any opportunities for errors by DJ and to try and build his confidence. That may actually go on for a number of games. Those longing for the quick strike days of DW and TL will likely be posting negatively on this board about our coaching, DJ, etc. Be prepared for it. Personally i am hoping for a return to the prime years and will be disappointed if this board turns to negativity.

Just human nature for most spoiled Americans, we have vision & expectations to want more.
Imagine being a coot not knowing if you will truly beat the citadel…
Let’s go be great Tigers, positive attitude to improve and win each an every week especially NC state by 97 just for Dave Doreen!
Cigars will be lit all around Clemson!

We are truly blessed to be able to complain about not winning by enough. I love Clemson football during lean years, I loved my team when we had a hard time closing (was it Red Parker who had the team doing a full contact scrimmage before the SCar game one year?) and when we were good but could be counted on to drop a game we should have won.
Things I knew but Dabo said them better- "winning is incredibly hard" and "just win". I want "our boys" to crush the Bees so that they will feel good about themselves. Me, I want us to be 1-0.
LOL, spot the dag-gummed ball already.

I don’t believe it will because the defense is likely to steal some of the thunder from the offense if it doesn’t play great in the beginning. I do think that the Tiger offense will be a little vanilla in this first game and Shipley likely will be the weapon the Tigers use most frequently. I’ll be very, very surprised if a lot of pressure is put on DJ to make big plays with his arms. I’m anxious to see how the new coordinators do in their initial game. A lot of pressure on them to begin this season. I still believe that opening with GT on the road will really benefit this team as it continues to get back to the top. I just hope that we don’t get into the position of allowing Potter to get all the points!!! SCORE

“Internal” pressure or not - we’ll hopefully try to pass beyond the line of scrimmage in these gimme games to be on track for our tougher games later on. A “Cheez-It Bowl” or USuck offensive game plan will not beat Nancy State, Miami, ND and probably others.
Wish him the very best but .. QB’s should be able to pass.

I don't think that approach does us any favors. Last year

should have taught us that we can't win consistently without a good passing attack and a QB that is a threat to run the ball in the RPO game. With our defensive talent and depth, we should come out up tempo and try to develop some offensive rhythm, consistency and momentum and establish that teams can't have success by crowding the line and daring us to throw the ball over their heads.
We have a solid, if not superior, back up QB, unlike last year. We need to find out quickly if DJ has improved sufficiently and, if not, get Cade the experience he needs to beat Wake and NC State in the 4th and 5th weeks of the season.

People that post gripe after gripe and moan after moan about DJ are simple not true Tiger fans. The QB is the one that takes the snap but he can do nothing without his teammates.

I agree with your sentiment about the Tnet couch cowboys

but I think (hope) you may be wrong about the coaching mindset. I think it killed the staff to play so conservatively on offense most of last year, but that was the formula that gave us the best chance to win.

Hope so. I posted a few days ago about having watched the bowl game and how depressing it was. We scored one touch down and didnt throw a single downfield pass.

Without 30 scholarship players, Alabama, Ohio State & UGA would have all had a hard time doing as well minus that many key players and backups!

Don't care if they dress like nuns and run the wishbone. Just put it in the end zone!
