In order to answer your question, we need to know who if any players are leaving, both NFL and portal. The we need to overlay our 2024 class to the roster and determine which positions are below their target quantity. Then we need to know who else might commit for the '24 class. Assuming we are under the 85 number, we can distribute the ships under the limit to the portal.

is using a covid year and who is "retiring" from football. That will determine if there are spots to fill via portal vs recruiting and how many actual open spots exist on the roster for 85 cap.

QB? No, not if all we're doing is getting Bear Bryant's clipboard holding offspring.
RB? Depends on who's returning. I think we're good on current talent + incoming.
WR? Only if they're quality. We have like 12 WR on the roster but only three can catch.
TE? If he's better than Briningstool then why not?
OL? Gosh yes
DE/DT? I like what we have
LB? Yes sir. We need depth. Fortunately our guys stayed healthy all year.
DB? These freshmen impressed the heck out of me. Probably not.
K? If we can trust an incoming all-star frosh, then no
P? Swanson's done. Not sure if Jack Smith is Jack Schitt.

Portal again? If it was easy to find help in the Portal we would have already done it. The Portal is probably 99% players that are no big factor and 1% that can make a difference and every school wants them.
