What if we didn't recruit two parent household players

2

Nov 2, 2023, 8:12 AM

would we find and commit soldiers that grew up without fathers and protecting their mother their whole life?

would we find and commit soldiers that have to make it to the NFL or else their whole safety dream for them and their mom goes to waste?

maybe we can't secure the top top recruits because our coaches and roster don't reflect the upbringing of the players that go SEC

if this post strikes a nerve. you don't understand the post.

Nuk Hopkins and Deshaun Watson come to mind. Mackensie Alexander is a different story, he had his father in his life but came from poverty similar to Deshaun. They all have something in common. They had no choice but to make it, and played like it every Saturday. Not sure who on this roster fits that category, but maybe I’m missing someone.

Why don't you call into the coaches show next Monday night and ask Dabo? I swear, some of you people come up with some of the dumbest stuff. Do you not have anything better to do with your time than to conjure up soap operas about the football team in your head?

This post seems like a huge reach.

I get what you’re saying, but don’t agree.

I'm not in a position to judge the character of the players we bring in. I've always been under the impression that Dabo has made a priority to bring in men of faith and character (which I admire). I wouldn't fault a coach for passing on a recruit who could be a potential problem off the field, but is a coach taking the easy way out by passing on such recruits when they could challenge themselves to mold them into better men?
I'm merely posing a hypothetical question in response to your post. I don't know the recruiting process well enough to make any claims or pass judgement.

Wow, how did Dabo miss this. You're brilliant! Quick, call Dabo before other teams figure this out.

This is one of the dumber posts I've seen on Tnet, and that's saying something...

Kids from single parent, double parent, polyamorous families, cults out in the desert...all have the exact same opportunity to change forever the trajectory of their families by earning a college degree. The NFL isn't the only port in the storm and moms not gonna drown without that lottery ticket

No one knows this better than Dabo; it's literally the story of his life.

I get it. And don’t entirely disagree with the sentiment. Football is inherently violent and for some players, a lack of safety net off the field forges a warrior toughness on the field that’s a cut above their peers.

That said, I think recruits from any background, would understandably question what kind of coaching and development they would get at Clemson based on what we’ve seen the past couple seasons. Imho, we first need a more experienced staff to improve our player development, play on the field and recruiting, regardless of how our recruits grew up. Go Tigers!
