Tonight’s game

May define the direction in which our program is headed. The loss last week came at a terrible time with the way the game was played and coached. Many of us had begun to loose confidence in the team with the way the team had progressed this season. Quite honestly the Gamecock game was as bad as the opener in Atlanta. Only a few times during the season did I feel like the team was playing “Clemson Football”. I bet most of you agree with this.
I just don’t think that the championships game tonight will tell us very much if the Tigers play as they have all season. Do you feel like a win is all that is necessary? It’s time for the Tigers to show that they are a dominant team and are headed in the right direction. What better way to do that than to play your best game of the year In the championship game!
To do this it will be necessary for the Tigers to dominate the Tarheels from the beginning. Our opponent is a quality team. Quite honesty, they are better than the team we played last Saturday. I think.
Thirteen games into the season and it’s time to put the big boy britches on and go play Tiger football for the first time this season. Can they do it? Are the coaches ready? Does this team have the confidence and skills to win a championship game.? It’s going to be a long day for me because I have no idea who will show up tonight. It certainly can’t be the team I saw last Saturday! I live up here in the Tarheel State and have contact with the baby blues every day so it’s a big game for ole foresttiger. Do The Right Things Dabo.
I’ll settle for 34 - 17 Nothing less,

So true. This team has just had a lack of fire for most of this year, I guess we’ve just gotten complacent as a program…… from the very top to the players I see uninspired on the bench. I love Dabo, and he has been the best coach, easily, in the history of Clemson football, but yes, the program and his tenure (Legacy?) is at a crossroads.
Are we heading up, or are we heading down? Championships DO matter.

Clemson has the greatest football coach in our football history. So, there’s a bump in the road. The great Frank Howard and the great Danny Ford teams experienced the same. Not being sarcastic, I really mean great!! It’ll play out. Go Tigers!!

After 12 games you are what you are. Now the holes might lay an egg and make us look great but the reality is we haven’t been close to a playoff team the last two years, primarily because we are limited offensively. Whatever the reason doesn’t much matter. 56-7 or 31-0 or 44-16 is not walking through that door. Every possession we stink up with poor play calling and poor execution leading to one or no first downs puts another brick on the back of the defense. The more plays they have to defend the more likely they give up a big play leading to a score. We are a struggle win kind of team two years running. I think we all know why and we don’t need advanced metrics to tell us.

the direction of our program will be defined by Dabo's willingness to adapt/change/evolve.............his lack thereof has put us where we've been the last 2 years.
the outcome of this one game will not define it.

Agree. Win or lose, I want DJ to move on, and Cade get 3+ weeks repping with the 1st team prior to bowl. A 5* 12 games into his career, and the coaches aren't comfortable putting him on the field. Past time to see what we got there.

I think that it will IF the team and coaching staff show that Clemson is willing to make the changes to return to greatness.
Do you not think that a great performance tonight by the quarterback and a dominating effort by both the offense and the defense would be a much needed positive for this program. A BIG dominating win in this game would be amazing ....... and it’s possible. I think

but only Dabo can define the direction of the program by adapting/changing/evolving.
I just don't think a win or loss against UNC will define the direction...........Dabo's got a number of "issues" he needs to address in the offseason for that to happen.

DJ Offense scores 35 in the first half.
Cade Offense score 28 in the second half.
** I hope this is the type of game we see. This has been my dream all season. If we can do this, we might also have a chance to see Tigers take down Nick Saban. That is what our program needs. We have winners on our coaching staff. we have winners everywhere. We just don't have those BIG TIME WINS. We're so close.

I’m afraid we’ve all been waiting on the 22 team to put it together and play like we know they can. Meanwhile they’ve shown us all year that we just aren’t very good. Hoping 23 is a complete revamp of everything associated with the offense and secondary.

Agree. Just haven’t seen one of our teams regress so much since the Bowden years. Inexplicable to me that only 1 person in the entire country can’t see that our qb play is horrendous. And he’s driving so we just have to hold our nose and hope Shipley and mafah go off and that the defense shows up. Just show up a little. And maybe field a freaking punt.

and he's got a lot that he needs to be made will be what "defines" the direction.
for example: a USF loss in 2010 didn't define our program..............Dabo's hire of Chad Morris did
a blowout loss to WVU in the OB in 2011 didn't define our program.......Dabo's hire of Brent Venables did.

UNC is not a good team. Average at best in my opinion. Clemson should dominate them from start to finish. If they do that I would consider it progress.
The UNC defense is terrible, good time for the offense to breakout. Of course a one point win would be okay also.
