Really rough hearing Monte say that he thought he failed the kids, the way he put it.I was hoping that he would make it at Clemson and be the head coach for the Tigers for a long long time but sadly it was just not meant to be I guess.Kinda reminds me of Tommy West in that he was a likable head coach, one that you wanted to see do well alot.

Disagree with comparing the two coaches!!! Tommy West left as mad as he be, and pisssing salt & vinegar all the way out the door, and even after he left the property:) Tommy west, and Monte Lee were totally opposite when they were told their time as a coach at Clemson was over!!!

Now back to just baseball, I really think that no matter who they hire, even if they could get Kevin O'Sullivan, or Tim Corbin to come back for the Head Coaching job at Clemson, and I don't think that would be possible with the way big money has made college sports into their big business.

Until there is a way for Clemson to offer full scholarships, plus incentives compared to what the Top baseball schools in the country are doing to attract the top talent in the country, and that goes for getting the top instate talent also. Humans will at times forget human nature bc of the things that we love so much, and we believe everybody should see what it is we love about Clemson, and it's bc of the reputation Clemson university has as a top university, for all things done the right way. And we forget what attracts humans the most in the atmosphere our country is in, is money.

The only way to attract the best of the best in college sports, is the means to lots of money, and that's the truth. You either go with the flow, or you will be left so far behind that catching up virtually impossible. Even with Clemson making it's best attempt to go with flow in the part of the country that Clemson is in this day and time, we're not going to have the same benefits as the universities in a bigger economy in the bigger cities. And that's just the way that it is, and it will continue to be that way until a rule has been made, and enforce that will level the field for everyone in college sports!!!!

Well O’Sullivan and Corbin aren’t coming because of the way the program has treated Jack have to mend that relationship if his former assistants are going to come here.

Agreed but not surprising. Clemson has a good culture of hiring stand-up folks with class, so even when they leave that shouldn't change. Monte will land on his feet soon enough, and so will Clemson.

Time to move on, coach. We aren’t falling for the turn around puppy dog eyes while you walk away.

Time to beat cheeks and quit being a puss.

You couldn’t be more wrong, if that isn’t a troll

I hate to dignify this with a response because there’s no way you actually believe this but I’ll bite- He’s so complimentary of everything Clemson here right after he was fired. If that isn’t a great statement then nothing is. It will also help the future coach keep this recruiting class together.

I’d much rather him give statements like this in the few days after he was fired than to whine and cry and stomp around town like a toddler the next decade just wishing for the downfall of the program.

I can’t believe you dignified my post with a response.

Lee was a class coach working in a difficult situation. Recruiting in baseball is harder than in football because when you sign a top recruit, there is always the possibility that he will go directly into professional leagues (in football, you need three years). Lee lost many great recruits that way, and having fewer scholarships to offer than other teams (like the SEC) makes it that much harder to recruit, and that is probably most keenly felt in pitchers. We need to level the playing field for the next coach.

Absolutely, Monte was behind the 8 ball with scholarships, and MLB reasons for sure!!!
