Why leave Clemson..where Dabo basically rules.. and go to Alabama where if you don’t win a Natty within 3 years after being hired…you get your walking papers. I think Dabo is smarter than that.

Dabo is fed up with the current state of college football and is planning on getting out in the next 5 years or so. If that's the case, why not take a shot at you alma mater?

Well, I hope he stays with us, but you do make a great point. It'd be hard to believe Dabo would just walk away from what he has built at Clemson, but he always dreamed of becoming the Head coach at Alabama. I guess we all find out soon.

at the top..? I mean really, are you taking Dabo or Mike Norvell if you had a choice?? not even close. Or Dabo or Kiffen? There just aren't many names out there that make you say that guy is the heir-apparent. Kirby Smart might be the only other name that you'd say 100% yes.. but the rest of those names.. toss up.

Can you provide a link where Dabo told the players that he wasn't leaving?

No they cannot provide tbat link. David Hood released and very cripted message that said everyone at Clemson is working like business as usual. Noone that he spoke with would give him any statement. So no one knows anything.

That's a fake account. And the post that DeBoer called a mandatory team meeting was YESTERDAY, and was never corroborated by any other media outlet.

Vegas knows what we don't know. Dabo hasn't made a public comment yet so there's some interest. If he wasn't interested he would of said so by now.

Frankly I’m much more concerned about Dabo taking the Alabama job in a couple of years after Saban’s successor gets run off because he didn’t meet expectations, which in Alabama’s case, is a national championship every year. Dabo relished the challenge of making Clemson relevant again and I think he might relish the challenge of restoring Alabama to prominence after whoever succeeds Saban fails. It’s hard to be the man who follows “the man,” and everyone knows that nobody is gonna fill Saban’s shoes.

Well, all the people during last season complaining about Dabo and “he’s pst his potential “, etc. How do you like him now? Now you’re crying for him to stay. All the negativity last year might push him over the edge. Congratulations

If DABO left, it would be the end of an era. My biggest concern is not DABO leaving But who we would get to replace him. I’m afraid the Clemson inbreeding would move Tony Elliot or Brandon Streeter to the top of the list. 😂😂

Kudos to Lanning for taking himself out of the running to ease tensions around his program regarding his players and coaches. Dabo has not done that so he’s willing to listen.

What about this? Is this fake news, or has Vegas not caught up?
The Crimson Tide reached out to Swinney on Thursday to gauge his interest in replacing Nick Saban, according to a source close to the situation.
We are told the conversation did not advance further and, as of this morning, it appears Alabama AD Greg Byrne has moved the focus

The answer to that would be NO. I think you could count on that. Now, will the Alabama team and fans adopt his faith and his expression of it? I bet some will, for sure, but I'd bet some on the team wont, and there will be departures, but that happens anytime there is a coaching change, I guess. We all play the waiting game.

Dabo should not get a raise or new contract at Clemson but he and his team are smart to use leverage to get what they can. Alabama maybe so desperate to land a name now that they have been spurned by other hot names in coaching who knows??? Regardless Thank You Dabo!!! You achieved more than any lifelong Clemson fan could have anticipated.

I remember Tommy Bowden...
1

With all of this speculation of who is going to follow Saban at Alabama, and what other coaches are telling their teams and fan bases...I remember a few years back driving home at night listening to a sports radio broadcast out of Louisiana having a live interview with Tommy Bowden. He had just completed an undefeated season leading Tulane, and Clemson had just fired our head coach. There had been a lot of speculation in the media concerning who would be the next coach at Clemson. The reporter asked a very direct question to Bowden about his interest in the Clemson job. He stated that he had no interest in the Clemson job and that he and his family were very, very happy at Tulane. The NEXT DAY he was in Clemson being introduced as the new football coach. If a devout Christian like Bowden would do it... Don't believe anything that you hear in the media or from the coaches. It's all a covert operation in a big business world. We'll just have to wait.

And I seem to remember Mack Brown then at UNC dealing with speculation about the Texas job. He met with the team like at 5 or 6 pm assured them he was very happy at UNC etc etc re-assuring the team etc. At 10pm it was learned later, he caught a plane to Texas and at 10AM he was introduced as the new Texas coach. Years later, as we all know, UNC hired him back. Are there no consequences for lying any more? Smile.
