I think we play better when we're doubted....wished they had ranked us lower. I mean look how we finished the year last season - everyone gave up on us and trashed us...so we won out. Also, OSU AND Michigan in the playoffs? Two teams from the same DIVISION, no less. Highly unlikely. Cracks me up.

.....only relegates to players who are also natural leaders.
As much as I think DJ is probably a "good" football player, I don't think he's "great" and I certainly don't believe that he's any sort of on-field leader.

I guess i don't understand what the PreSeason rank is

supposed to be... is it a ranking of what they think we will see at the end of the season or just a ranking of the best teams and personnel beforehand?
Because rarely you see two teams that have played each other be side by side at the end of the year (unless you're in the SEC.) Clemson and ND will have played each other and ND will have played OSU at the horseshoe. I assume they lose big to OSU. And if we're above them then we would have beaten them.. so they're a two loss team and we're maybe a 1 loss team in their eyes..? A 1 loss clemson is def in the top 4/5 unless they lose in the ACC championship game and are a 2 loss team (guess thats the only way that happens.) But then who beat us in the ACC champ.. why are they not higher..
See why these early polls are useless. I just don't get it. I guess its just a way to sell a magazine in August. Or maybe someone can enlighten me. Its not a huge deal just the analytical side of me tries to figure out how they get there.

Most preseason rankings are power ratings and

are NOT attempting to project where teams will finish (which is heavily influenced by schedule difficulty).
Usually as teams play more games, voters begin to weight resume much more heavily in their rankings - although just how much depends on the individual voter.

Anyone who worries about Pre Season rankings just doesn't have enough to do in life. As Dabo will say 50 times this year, just win and everything will be fine.

Preseason rankings don’t do squat. It is where you finish or where you are late in the season.

Even though Utah and ND are inexplicably at the 5 and 6 spot on this poll, it is a perfect place for Clemson to be. We aren’t nearly as good when the expectations are too high. Sitting at 7 is honestly probably where I would have put them after next year. Georgia will struggle this year and Utah and ND are laughable!

Actually, I see #7 as pretty high overall respect for a program that had to replace both coordinators and has a big question mark at quarterback based on last season's performance.
