CBS Sports predicts Deshaun Watson's future
It has been fairly quiet on the Deshaun Watson legal front of late. Additionally, the NFL has reportedly not interviewed Watson yet. So what does the future hold for Watson as a player this season? CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora believes that Watson will end up on the Commissioner's Exempt List to sta (Photo: Trevor Ruszkowski / USATODAY) Read Update » |

Under criminal investigation?

I was under the impression that there was no crime committed. Isn't that what the Houston PD said?

I don't think we have the whole story yet, nor will we ever.
He made some foolish choices and his brand has taken a beating for them.
I pray he gets his act together, simply for his own sake. The rest of us don't matter.

asking key questions up front... there are professional differences in licensed physical therapists and licensed massage therapists and social media massage therapist; he didn't take the time to make sure that the licensed physical therapists would or would not include social media massage therapy services with her physical therapy services.
I'm consistently amazed that the hypocrisy in the opinions that we want limited gov't intrusion into our private lives but we dive deep with opinions and laws into our private lives.
Watson probably did go too far with attempting to entice some of these women into engaging with him sekshually, but I will say that the claim of a forceful sexual encounter has to be backed up with evidence and/or corroboration by a witness. It's just too deniable for a claim of forced oral to be valid when you have teeth and two free hands to fight off that level of assault. I'm really conflicted with strong coercion being criminal unless there is a physical component of the coercion like restraining someone who is resisting your restraint or even touching someone without permission. You're right, we will probably never know the entire story, but there is more evidence of this being a money grab than it is that Watson was criminal in his actions... according to what we already know and can deem valid testimony.

and they would consider whether it warranted a criminal investigation. To date no evidence has been given to the Houston PD, IIRC.

That makes it sound like there's no investigation, but there is; it sounds like the NFL can't even START its investigation until the Houston PD investigation is complete.

Good coming from this headline story except DW will likely be paid. There is a big lesson to be learned here for others who follow his rise to stardom. He may be a Clemson guy and everyone’s favorite but he let something do his thinking for him instead of his brain. No other team will likely want to take the risk of letting DW become a part of their organization. It will likely cost him millions to avoid further shame.

I believe that the exempt pays 10 million. Take the 10 and if you are found innocent retire. No penalty for retirement. It's not worth it. Then sue the league for defamation of character. NFL brass is a joke!!

"Watson will still get paid..."

"Watson will still get paid if he lands on the Commissioner's Exempt List."
I love DW so maybe this is personal, but I'm glad for this part.
Look, the NFL season starts next month. I can't imagine how we'd get a settlement before then, but even if we do, then we need the NFL to do its own investigation.
I think they're right about Watson not playing this year, but it stinks. This waiting simply doesn't seem fair.

Exactly what is the exempt list? Can't be too bad if you continue to be paid.

The NFL exemption list is just a place to put a player's name so he doesn't count against the active roster list.
Only the commissioner can put any name on the list.

I was near certain a settlement would be reached in time for DW4 to play this coming season. But the stalemate could go on for a very long time before one side blinks on the privacy issue.
Since DW4 would be paid while on the exempt list, the urgency for Rusty Hardin to settle may not be there. On the other side, Tony Buzbee's clients may lose patience knowing this could go another year.
One thing to know: Silence from both sides means they might be talking to each other.

Unless there is something Deshaun's attorney knows that the rest of the world doesn't, it would be a huge win for Deshaun to get paid. I just hope he is convicted and loses his career. A civil suit judgement would potentially cost millions but maybe he could play again. Either way this is so sad for a man that we all thought was a prince of a guy.

So wait, let's unpack that statement. you WANT him to be convicted and his career taken away? So let's delve into that. 1)Either he has been set up, and his name has been dragged through the mud for no reason and he will lose his livelihood..a guy that helped make Clemson into the monster it is today..OR 2) It is all true, and you WANT it to be true, or at least KNOW it to all be facts that he "assaulted" these young ladies. Either way, kinda falls under the No Bueno category. But hey, you do you.

By any chance did you accidentally omit the word "not" in your statement? I just hope he is NOT convicted and loses his career.
