w/ rubbing the rock. Had chills watching the buses cruising down Avenue of Champions and then turning right on Williamson Dr. to hear DV at full throttle. There is no better entrance in college football...not even a close 2nd.

There is a disconnect in timing.

For the past two games there is about a 30 second lull when the team is up waiting and there is nothing but silence. The excitement seams to lose it's steam and then the cannon goes off. That time delay needs to eliminated. Anyone else notice this?

It's called The Orange Bowl March played while Tiger Band transitions into the tunnel formation. I personally kind of like tradition and its connection with Clemson's first national title. It's not a lull inside the stadium, they just don't pick up the sound on the TV broadcast.

The only lull would be the sound level dropping when the band starts playing

As opposed to the speakers piped in on the music
It’s not that weird to anyone who’s familiar with Clemson traditions but I can see someone who didn’t know thinking it was a “lull” instead

It isn’t really a lull, but an awkward transition from a raucous rock anthem blared over large speakers to a more traditional marching band song being performed without the aid of amplification. Not sure yet how to make it less awkward…

The addition of we will rock you has caused the transition. I love the way it amps up the crowd and I’m sure they will smooth it out somehow. Cannot change Tiger Rag. Maybe amplify the band?

Tiger Band has had everything timed down to 3:41 on the clock for decades. If we fine tune anything it needs to be the recorded music. We could start that sooner, or cut out the second verse.

See my comment below. I’m not advocating changing anything about the timing, and certainly don’t want to change the Tiger Band portion of the entrance, but would it be possible to find some way to amplify the band volume? I really think the volume drop is creating the awkward transition.

We will rock you may be new, but there has never been a time when Clemson arrives at the top of the hill and immediately starts running down. They have always stood there for 30 seconds to a minute while tiger band plays the Orange bowl March and approaches the bottom of the hill, then they shoot the cannon. Other than the new song over the loudspeakers that hasn't changed at all.

What lull? Everybody claps in time to the Orange bowl March as the band approaches the hill and then goes nuts when the cannon goes off, that's not a silent lull lol

True. Orange Bowl March has been a part of pregame and Clemson long before the 81 Orange Bowl.

WWRU is a good song it's just not unique and only Clemson. Other schools use it. Penn State uses it during their pregame entrance.
Agreed they should never mess with "Orange Bowl March" or "Tiger Rag".

I completely agree on the lull and Dabo ate up a few seconds with his arms trying to pump up the crowd and it worked for part of it.

The Tigers entry

Into the stadium has become an event that football fans all over America now get a chance to see and enjoy. How anyone could find fault with this is beyond me. With the new lighting system and video board the entry has become even more exciting. We all miss the balloons but that was out of the universities control I’m sure. Other schools are now adopting things like Tiger Walk into their pre game activities. Flattering I think!

There's always ways to improve and I agree with the original post that the atmosphere slows down for a bit during that time. Dabo notices and tries to keep the crowd up. In past times when the players locked arms and swagged at the top of the hill the fans seemed to stay hyped up for the cannon. I do think that transition can be improved a bit.

I don’t think the quality of the band is an issue. I think it is all volume related.
