Agree. Sign Jack to a 4 year deal. Reconcile with him and the college baseball world. Let Jack have a hand in bringing in his replacement as associate head coach who takes over the program after 4 years are up. Possibly David Miller. The way it should have been done in 2015 before Dan Radakovich totally goofed everything up.

I vote bring Jack back and he can train assistant Coach to become HC when he retires.

You can't bring Jack back. He wasn't living up to expectations...remember? Plus, he would have no incentive to go above and beyond.
There are a number of up-and-coming, hungry young coaches out there.
You can't Bluetooth an 8-Track player to your phone.

This might be the most logical post on baseball! Jack had fallen into the same rut as Mac Brown did at Texas. Jack's attitude was "I'm Jack Leggett, we're Clemson, all the recruits will come to us." I know several players from the end of his time and they echo the same sentiment. He was more worried about hanging out in GA to watch kids at showcase tourneys. We had a alot of great players in upstate SC he pretty much ignored. I also know someone that played for JL when Corbin was there and he has said on numerous occasions that JL created resentment amongst the players. It was "his" guys vs. Corbin's guys. There could only be one alpha male and it was JL.
This is not to bash JL. I liked him as a coach and he has my total respect but I think he'd lost touch a little and when he realized that and tried to rally he ran up on the wrong boss. Right or wrong you had two bulls butting heads and we all know there's only bull in the pasture.
I'm 49 so I grew up watching those incredible teams from the 90's & early to mid 2000's and I was a huge Wilhelm and Leggett fan.

Lost touch but had a top 5 recruiting class coming in. Only people outside his locker room and baseball world think he lost touch. Two years before he was fired he won 40 games. Monte only recruits from the same travel team in Sc and Ga has better talent year in and out than Sc. This is like telling Dabo to recruit only in state talent if we do football will go back into submission. Sc baseball isn’t what it use to be.

No you remember he was doing good for Clemson baseball is was only they last AD that ran him off. Thank God he left for Miami. Was Jack part of coaching staff of HC before him. Clemson done that lots in football specially with Ford and Dabo as assistant coaches becoming HC and winning National Championship. Clemson was dumb firing Ford as they were firing Jack.

I totally agree with you.. these boo birds are beyond belief ,sideline coaches who know more than anybody. Jack was a disappointment in the end ,how soon we forget. Why don’t we let the people who are in charge of hiring do their job. I repeat some of it belongs to the kids you can’t make them hit or play.

Whoever it is will have the same problems recruiting players and not being able to offer them a scholarship. The 11.7 rule is unfair to college baseball players who train as hard as football or basketball players. With out of state tuition baseball players are PAYING $100,000 to come to Clemson to play baseball. Other programs have endowments that pay full scholarships to baseball players. Where would you go to college?

That's a poor excuse. Coaching in many areas has been substandard.

I've seen Bakich, Link Jarrett, and Mazey mentioned, and I support all of those. One guy off the radar that I like is Rucker Taylor from Davidson. They are 43-11 in his 4th season there. He's a young Vandy grad.

Doubt Corbin or O'Sullivan would come back after the way Jack was treated. dan radakovish really did a number on the Clemson baseball program and it's reputation.

He's accomplished more than Brownell, and he's back sooo..
I don't think Neff is going to fire anyone in his first ever year as an AD.

Didn’t you guys hear, Monte has already decided he’s coming back next year, and probably the year after that.
Just call him and ask him.

If you can’t get Link or Backich then it needs to be Cliff Godwin from East Carolina. He has proved he can get to super regionals with lesser talent.

Clemson baseball and Clemson basketball are not historically comparable programs. The fact that so many people around here now seem to think that they are says a lot more about where dan radakovish put the Clemson baseball program than anything else.

They’re going to go after Dan McDonnell from Louisville who’s contract is up after next season.
USC definitely wants him, so this could become the same situation as before we hired Monte. ML had all the leverage because CU and USC were searching for a head coach and Monte was a hot commodity at the time.
There has to be a better pitching coach out there at the bare minimum going in to next season.

It's pretty irresponsible for so many on here to constantly be comparing our baseball and basketball program.
Before this 11 year stretch of baseball ineptitude, we were a top 15 program historically, up there with most CWS appearances. This is now our longest CWS drought in program history. Beating the 1980-1990 gap.
