I think the biggest area for improvement for Cade will be pocket presence/awareness. I don’t know how coachable that characteristic is….but IMHO that’s the critical one.

It's not exactly murderers row.
I don't know of anyone that's not excited about new, fresh ideas and looks this year, but folks will hopefully manage their expectations.
Mind's Eye can be a mutha from which there are times no good can come.

the improvement in explosive plays, etc., came against the same teams, for the most part, that produced the results in the comparison. It seems to follow that Riley was mostly responsible for that. If our offense improves by the same margin, I like our chances.

to 27th in Total Offense all the way from 36th the prior year - 20 yards per game.
There are a lot of factors, including Riley going about things differently.
That, the lack of a "book" on Riley's offense compared to the volumes opposing teams had on Clemson's Offense prior or Patterson for that matter before Sonny took over, is most welcome.
Let's not kid anyone about how bad the defenses were TCU faced; it shouldn't take away from the excitement of a new era in Clemson Offense.

against that Michigan defense, with the high coming against Maryland with 27. Michigan finished 5th in the country in scoring defense at 13.4 points per game.

Michigan out gained TCU, should Dabo have tabbed their OC instead?
Here's a pick of the BigXII champions, Kansas State.
Not trying to be an arse, but neither team earned the win in that playoff game, both having 3 turnovers and enough blown assignments for several games.
Again, happy to have Riley on board and look forward to him reinvigorating Clemson's O - fingers crossed, returning the explosiveness.

TDs, they probably score offensively. Still, that's 38 points, the most by far, against a great defense.

If you're lauding anything TCU or Michigan did I'd be surprised that you did; it was a horrific display of football on both sides.

perhaps we should throw the UGA game out as well. Now, THAT was ugly.
TCU played badly all around in that game. It was over after the first quarter.

I’m not so sure that Cade is better than Duggan just yet. He obviously has the potential to be, but we just haven’t seen it yet.
Duggan also had better WRs, IMO. Cade has better RBs, TE, and OL.
Either way, I believe Cade will have a really good season and we should return to the playoffs.

What leads you to believe the WRs are better?
Outside of Quentin Johnson, who had ~600 yards in 2021, none of the other WRs were highly recurited.
Antonio Williams ranked about the same as Johnson out of highschool and had ~600 yards last season.
Add in Collins, Williams, Randall and Stellato and the roster talent level is way better than 2022 TCU.
With superior talent to most of the teams on the schedule and defensive coordinators having to adjust to new schemes I expect our WRs will exceed the improvement we saw at TCU.

I expect him to struggle in next season's opener. He's lucky (busted coverage) his offense scored 7 in the natty. While they don't have Kirby's roster every DC in the ACC will be studying that film.

Film study is great but your players have to back it up. UGA is one of the few teams in the country that can defend the run without extra players in the box. They also Have 3+ quality options in the secondary. Most teams have 1-2 and struggle with the 3rd or 4th recieving option.
I agree Riley's offense has something to prove vs a UGA/Bama. Otherwise, I think DCs have been studying the film for years but lack the personal to execute. Maybe the same can be said of Riley who will now be working with his most talented roster ever.

After watching their toughest games - I was impressed

I was impressed with their ability to come back and keep finding the weaknesses of the defenses, Texas, Oklahoma State and Kansas.
Cade is much quicker in space, maybe not much faster in straight line speed. I believe he’s a much better QB with this system.
We have more talent, our RB’s alone will open up the pass. I think with our defense Riley’s offense will shine much more than at TCU.
I like the way he keeps looking for the defensive weaknesses.
We will be much improved but I believe we will run the ball more than TCU did in most games.
