I'll be interested in his spring game performance. I'm still skeptical about his ability, but there's no denying that he's better suited for a pro-style system.

Great dude, but his skills were already best utilized at Clemson. Maybe he can improve at basic QB fundamentals and finish strong.

Didn’t Streeter ‘water down’ the OFFENSE

Yet, DJU couldn’t grasp it… not thinking “complex” will help him figure it out. Maybe he can just go play in the CFL with the bigger field so those guys on the sidelines are protected. 😬

you mean both of them...he is well suited for a slow moving, slow reading, pick one out and knock him down with the ball offense! If that means oregon state he could have saved us two runs at a natty by going with them in the first place! On good days my mailbox is faster than DJ! I know he is and was a good kid but we gave him a scholarship because a bunch of media outlets in California didn't want him ruining USC or UCLA (they were disfunctional anj way) or other PAC infested teams! We bit with lots of fanfare and look what little ole CCC did...screwed the pooch!

Sometimes the truth does hurt and can sound very harsh. I’ll take the high road on this one and just wish him the very best. ‘Nuff said, I’ll keep the truth to myself however, we saw what we saw.

Deep ball? Man I would like to know his behind the line of scrimmage completion rate. Pro offense or no pro offense if you can't complete a 5 yard pass to a wide open back or receiver it's not the scheme.

That system left and went to Virginia...good luck to them! He had no skills compared to TL or DW and no amount of coaching was going to sharpen his mental faculties or speed! CK runs faster backwards than DJ did in D1, D2, or D3!

"I wanted to be able to do play-action, throw a lot of deep balls, deep posts, scheme-wise, a little bit more complex than I was doing at Clemson, a little more NFL-style," he said.
Uh, in the NFL you must make quick decisions and be accurate in the medium and short game as well..... he just wants to hand the ball off or chunk it down the field. LMAO
I wish him good fortune.

along with his ability to read and react quicker to the defense, it's not going to matter what kind of offensive system the team runs.
DJ may have a hard time seeing the field at Oregon State. Ben Gulbranson, who replaced injured QB Chance Nolan, was 5-1 in his six starts.

I feel that Streeter needed to utilize the hurry up offense more for DJ to make him think quicker. I also feel that Dabo coddled DJ too much. I wish DJ well but agree that we do not need anymore articles on him. He has moved on and Clemson has too.
As far as anonymity, DJ was given a national NIL deal because of the Clemson brand and the success of Watson and Lawrence. He willingly stepped into those shoes and fell short. Watson and Lawrence would have had more success last season based on their pure talent. I hope that DJ having less pressure on him to succeed on a national level will work to his advantage.

He’s right about our offense! Vanilla play calling! Not utilizing the tight ends or loosening up the linebackers with middle routes! Always throwing to the sideline! DJ could never get comfortable because there was no offensive game plan and the play calling was ignorant! I’m not saying DJ would have succeeded because he couldn’t make it through his reads for whatever reason! What I am saying is there is a reason Streeter is gone! He did DJ no favors! Good luck to him! Maybe elsewhere they will develop and utilize his skill set instead of putting chains on him with crappy unimaginative play calling and a complete lack of trust!

Not using the TE is a myth. Davis and Briningstool was 2 of the top receivers on the team last year. I do not understand the narrative that Clemson did not throw to the TE?

I can sorta see his point about letting him play free and be himself. We recruited him because he was presumably the best qb in his class. Then, upon his arrival we immediately started "working on his mechanics" and "improving his footwork" as well as other changes. You gotta wonder how it would have worked out if we hadda just danced with who we recruited.

I wish him the best and recognize we may only be seeing a portion of the entire interview. However......I see a bunch of "I" and "me" in the quote below, and not much "team".
"I wanted to go somewhere where the scheme is going to fit me," Uiagalelei said. "I wanted to go somewhere where they're going to let me be who I am as a player, let me play free, and let me go out there and just cut it loose. Just somewhere where I can do what I wanted to do."

Agree and he underthrew a lot of short passes, too. Some in the dirt or at the receivers feet. With that said, I really do hope he does well at Oregon State. He was a Tiger for 3 years and maybe he did the best he could do.

And TigerNet patrons know DJ is well schooled in saying the right thing. So this is a litmus test. The big questions are: Will DJ earn the starting position? How will he perform on the field? Will DJ's performance indicate DJ underperformed in 2021-22 seasons or Streeter/Dabo playbook/schemes failed?

What happened to once a tiger always a tiger? That question is aimed at DJ.
Does anyone remember his primping while the camera was rolling just before interviews started? Tell me he doesn't love the limelight and I will show you a QB that isn't color blind. (This must be the reason he threw the ball to the guys in different colored uniforms).
Yeah, he's a real gunslinger. Drop back, heave it downfield, and hope someone besides the mascot is in the same time zone.
Maybe he worked on his accuracy in the last few months. I hear they have syringes instead of darts in the local Oregon bars.
Fact is he failed. Streeter failed. They are both gone for a reason. I would say good luck to both, but I don't care how either of them turn out. Actually I do. Streeter can go suck an egg. UGA is my least favorite team. Go DAAAAWGS my #### barf barf barf.

Big disagree on this one....yes he was...someone had to fall on the sword because of this big goof...TE had already got smart and checked out...Streeter was left holding the bag and there was no way to dump the crap out of the bag with Dabo protecting the fertilizer! Streeter was a scapegoat and when we got to UNC in the championship game it was like playing Girl Scout Post #4...out new unplayed and unschooled QB who had worked with the 2nd team all year still looked great but when we played Tennessee (real team) our QB who had worked with the 1st team for some scrimmages had some issues...lets blame it on Streeter, give him a package and let him take the orange and purple Koolaid! DJ should never have started a game at CCC and Dabo knows it, his pride and position will not let him admit it but he still knows!

Less is more.
So you previously relished the notoriety and signed big endorsement deals and got paid….and now you are claiming you enjoy the anonymity?
Look…love DJU….but when someone doesn’t take ANY of the responsibility for their failure…that’s tells the tale. Granted some of the things he says are absolutely true…buts let’s be real …the scheme isn’t why you were constantly throwing screen passes into the dirt or throwing inside slants way too high or way behind the receivers.
CDS went to the mat supporting DJU….too many times in my opinion. Coddled is a word that comes to mind. Once he got hurt in the South Carolina game, he should’ve been pulled. I just think some of the things he says in this article are not necessary…… particularly when you haven’t even won the starters job @ OSU.
Repeat… Less is more…

If so, I can see that. Give him nothing to think about and let muscle memory rule his actions after the snap.

How is he going to do more complicated schemes when he couldn't hit a receiver 5 yards away at Clemson. Not only that but several of his 5-10 yard passes hit the dirt first. Yeah.. ok.. good luck being a better fit. Time will tell. My prediction.. he is on the bench halfway through the season.

Lol well when he gets benched for a freshmen again I hope all the guys who have been riding his jock will finally be silenced.
DJs future should be baseball, he does not have "IT" for football. His arm talent is undeniable but he was never asked to do more than throw fades coming up. He was much more raw than anticipated, probably would have been exposed sooner if he had participated in more camps.

From the first couple of games I watched him play.. I told people who asked “what’s wrong with him? I would say it is like trying to put a square peg in a round hole. He just doesn’t fit Dabo’s style of offense. And he never could get it.

I met DJ once. Nice guy. I like him as a person. I hope he does well with whatever he pursues.
I dont like him as a QB. Strong arm but zero abaility with leadership, intuition, decision making, instincts, etc.
After seeing him punt in the dirt ###### game, it appears his leg is big just like his arm is big.
He luanched a long punt with very litttle wind up. Looks like the dude can punt.
I doubt his ego or his dad's ego will allow this, but he could make $1.5M per year and completely avoid injuries thus have a very long career as an NFL punter.
If he gets becnhed as a QB at OSU he should start punting.

sorry I have potty mouth, sorry if I have caused any young tigernetters lives to veer out of control with such language.

Oregon State's offense must be based on interceptions and incomplete passes.

I’m not going to get my BP up by reading a single comment and I gave up on the PAC 12 a while back as far as watching good football so I am not aware even of what type offense they even run
But, he’s probably right because he’s not equipped for a spread offense

Let’s be honest

It was a little bit of the scheme. It was also a little bit of DJ and an OC who stuck with him way too long. There is a big reason why CK took over and said OC is gone. ( *see ACC champion MVP) Let’s just move on and wish the others all the best!

It would help if his ball actually came down on the same side of the field as the receiver he was supposed to target. I hope that works out for him. In some ways, I think DJ was not served well by the OC or the QB coaches, but we've hashed that up over and over. No need to go there again.
