Honest evaluation of Pelosi

I am almost always on YouTube when I’m watching TV. Suggested clips come up. One of them was Pelosi on PBS just a few days ago. I’ve never in my life watched an interview with her, but I decided to watch this one. I am a center right republican, so I’ve never been a fan of her at all. But after watching an interview with her, I have to admit I’m sort of impressed.
If you can strip away you’re biased as most of you on this site are hard right Republicans, if you give an honest evaluation of Pelosi she is really impressive imo.
Say what you want about her, but she has maintained power. She’s 81 years old and after watching this interview she is sharp as a tack.
As some of you know, I hate Donald Trump. But at the same time I can certainly admit that he’s a brilliant politician as you just don’t become president without political skills.
Just curious what some of you far right haters of Pelosi think about her. My opinion is that she is a brilliant politician that seems more on top of her game than any 80+ year old I know. If you don’t like her, you have to admit that it is impressive the power she has maintained for many years.

I’m not impressed by politicians, I’m impressed by people that do ###.

I am not a fan.
She's a very different breed than this new-wave MAGA agitator who just wants to scream and set fire to things...but she's also the reason they wanna set fire to things.
I agree she's sharp. Yup. "Calculating witch" would be a kind description. She's known as a masterful vote counter, deal-maker, and artiste of the Possible. She's as good a pure politician as Mitch McConnell. She rarely if ever makes a tactical mistake or puts a wrong foot forward, politically.
She also knows exactly who her Sugar Daddies are. She's worth something like 114+ million when last I checked, almost all in the classic Big Tech stocks - Alphabet, Facebook (now that word TNet's HTML filter won't let me use), Apple, Intel, etc. And then of course she turns around and passes laws about those very companies whose stock she owns so incredibly much in.
The "establishment" of both parties has done a massively good job (not that this is a good thing) convincing us there are only two teams, Red Team and Blue Team...and then self-dealing and enriching themselves behind the scenes, even as they make a "career in Washington", something We The People were never supposed to have: a professional politician class.
She's the epitome of that Establishment, as insidery and careerist as they get...and I'd love to take her, all the careerist politicians, and these idiot MAGA Freedom Caucus morons and launch them all out of Washington together, install term limits, and ban their dark money, forever. And put Bob Down The Street in for his term (after which he comes home) because he's a good guy and he's sharp and he'd do a good job and people like him...and it shouldn't be any more complicated than that. Pelosi and her kind make that pipe dream almost impossible.
We The People act like self-governance is impossible, that we somehow need career politicians like Pelosi.
Why's that? Why do we need her again? What exactly is she capable of that even some of the smart folks right here on T-net's political board wouldn't be?

I agree with Quozzell’s assessment. I’m not saying I like her, but at the same time her power is what it is. If you don’t like how she got there, at some level he had to give her some credit even if you hate her.
Again, to be fair I hate Trump but I have to give him credit for the power he has. Just interesting to evaluate why politicians have power, whether you like them or not. That’s my only point.

But would much prefer congress members who aren't ultra wealthy and holding private investments in the stock market.

Captain crash, you are incapable of separating your bias hatred from reality. To suggest that Pelosi is not powerful is just ridiculous and indicates your complete ignorance. Again, I am capable of admitting that as much as I hate Trump he has power. You in turn are not capable of acknowledging that someone you hate has power. Look in the mirror dude.

Powerful and totally emblematic of what's wrong in Congress. She wouldn't make a COVID relief deal with Trump just to hurt him politically when people forced to stop working indeed needed help.
Powerful-yes. I have no respect for the windbag. I would like to challenge her to attempt to talk just once without flapping her hands incessantly. It annoys me enough to punch her prune face.

class which, in my view, makes Pelosi one of the most despicable oxygen thieves on this planet. Pelosi is an expert at the DC insider reindeer games, but her soul is rotten to the core from her quest and love of power. I find nothing respectable about Pelosi as well as 90% of her compadres of both political parties in DC.
PS... Obtaining and wielding political power like a draconian banshee is not impressive to me. Being a servant leader who is willing to give up power is way more impressive (see George Washington and Lucius Quinctius Cincinnatus).
