A bike ride across Golden Gate Bridge down to Sausalito, and take a trip to Berkeley on the weekend and see the art peddlers and eat Thai food at the Buddhist Temple

Go across the bridge to wine country (The Napa wine trail). Go down a little bit to Carmel (Pebble Beach Golf Course) plus the mayor used to be Clint Eastwood. Lots to do around there other than just San Fran.

There is every kind of food imaginable in SF and the Bay Area. Pick out a type you like and google it. Any restaurant that is open means it survived some pretty tough critics in Bay Area customers. In general, the wharf for seafood, north beach for Itilian, the Misson for Mexican/Latin, Japantown, Chinatown, Koreatown, are pretty self explanatory, downtown/Financial District for steaks/American, All restaurants post menus outside. Alcohol can add a whole lot to a bill. Prices are all over the place. Every restaurant has a website with menus even if they routinely change.

Depending on how much time you have one thing that’s a lot of fun and takes a half day or so in SF is a Segway tour. Costs around $40 and you can see a lot of the highlights of SF. Look online and book in advance.

I organized an entire 5 day vacation in SF about 10 years ago using yelp.com restaurant reviews and setting the filters to lowest costs and highest ratings - awesome ethnic places if you’re an adventurous eater like me. Favorite hole in the wall was eating Vietnamese imperial rolls from Tu Lan south of market (it was Julia Child’s favorite restaurant in the city). If you’re a fit person, gotta bike around the city and over the Golden Gate to Sausalito.

The French Laundry
There isn't a restaurant even close to as good in the area.

Pier 39 Seafood. It's at the very end of the pier. Ask to sit on the dock side of the restaurant. You will have views of the Golden Gate Bridge as well as the island prison! Best seafood I've ever ate!
