Rotation of Centers

In all seriousness, is anybody concerned about the potential for rotating centers against UGAYYYY this weekend? It is slightly disheartening that nobody was able to fully claim the starting center spot, and I worry about cohesiveness (i.e botched snaps) that could potentially occur. Anybody have a different angle/take that will help to ease my worry? Thanks.

Not concerned. Though I imagine Trotter is on a short lease. One bad snap and he will be pulled. Other wise I see him playing every down with little rotation as long as he’s doing his job.

There will be no rotation…
I won’t be shocked it Bockhurst plays most of the game at center…
Dabo WILL get the best 5 o-linemen on the field…
I think there’s some gamesmanship going on with the depth chart that’s out there…

Yea if Brockhorst is having to snap and block we are in trouble...Not only from a competency stand point but from a depth and talent stand point

Well Dabo actually said he will be rotating centers, this isn't based of the depth chart.

I do not think Trotter will be able to hold up against the size of Georgia's OL. Brockhurst might be ok but I think we need Rayburns size and strength in the middle. I am sure the coaches know what to do but I think Rayburn is our best option.

To be honest I am more concerned on winning the toss. Do we kick or take the ball first?

I'm kind of with 1996 down there. I think its ultimately gonna be Bockhorst with Mayes playing beside him. Rotating centers against a top 10 defensive front just doesn't seem like a good thing. Just gotta trust the coaches!

I am going to tack on a question though.
How come there has been no word on Ryan Linthicum. I know he came in as a high 4/5 star. Is it just a position that takes a long time to learn correctly? Is it a learning curve thing? A talent thing?
Just haven't heard anything about him even being a possibility.

Great question. I wonder that too. I mean I remember hearing he was pushing to start as a frosh. And now he’s not on the too deep.

I'm assuming that Linthicum is probably having a some difficulty learning the blocking schemes associated with the offense. It is my understanding that TE's offense is not necessarily the easiest thing to pick up. I would assume Linthicum may need some more time in the books before we see him shine on the field.

If we have 2 functioning centers, we can rotate linemen

and wear their large line down. You can't just line up and try to out physical their big D line. Play to your strengths and away from theirs. Plus, they have an entirely new secondary, so you would assume they might have trouble communicating unexpected alignments from our wideouts and tight ends who all know multiple positions within the group.
We're gonna have to up tempo them.

Rotating centers would be coaching malpractice. Dabo knows exactly who will start and play all the snaps if healthy. He's just not wanting to let UGA know who it will be, and has put out this red herring of a depth chart to that end.

Uncle Lou was reporting last night on YouTube that Clemson was starting a 2 star center. Is that true? The only reason I ask is because that d-bag will say anything to make himself look informed about anything connected to Georgia football. Dude is a joke.
Thanks, I'll hang up and listen.
