Portal QBs/Recruiting flips

With no 2024 QB commit, I wish we would take a look at the portal, or at least work on some flips...
I know it seems like Dabo isn't going to do either. He clearly loves Cade. But...
Cade will be in his 3rd year next season. He still doesn't see the field well, and doesn't work through his progressions like he should. His game awareness isn't good at all. His arm talent isn't elite. Despite what some posters on here continually say, his deep ball is terrible. It looks like a punt. That's because he doesn't have the arm strength for zip on anything over about 20 yards. He's halfway through his eligibility and I'll be surprised if he ever becomes the kind of quarterback we need to excel on offense.
In the portal, the only down side to Will Levis is that he's only got one year of eligibility left. But I think he could be really good in what Garrett Riley wants to do. If Riley Leonard enters the portal, he would be another good one.
As to flipping recruits, it looks like DJ Lagway is still solid with UF. But the natives are getting restless down there, and with a brutal '24 schedule, Billy Napier may not survive another season. They've already lost some big time decommits...would love to think our staff is still in touch with DJ.
The tall QB from Houston Co in Ga just decommitted from Colorado. I think we were on him early. He's a '25 recruit, but there has been some talk of him reclassifying.
It seems like Dabo is pretty settled with where we are in the QB room, but not bringing anyone in next year looks dangerous to me. I'd love to think the light will come on for Cade, but we've missed on too many guys at RB and QB the last couple of years to feel really good about those rooms. I like the WR class coming in, but we have got to be really, really good, if not elite in the backfield to return to a championship caliber team. In my mind we're just pretty good at RB and okay at QB right now.
Do you see any potential portal candidates or recruiting flips out there?
If not, feel free to flame away!

Looks like you've put in way more work on the portal possibilities than will Dabo.

We should ideally be bringing in a QB every season that can either immediately or eventually be starter quality. This bringing in a highly ranked QB then treading water and hoping for the best for a couple years isn't going to get us anywhere.

Dabo will do whatever he can to improve our team and roster for the '24 season and beyond, per the usual. Whether that involves a greater use of the portal or potential recruiting flips would depend on opportunity and mutual interest. He certainly isn't going to promise a starting gig to anyone to try and lure them in, nor is he going to try and steer anyone towards a NIL windfall. At QB, Cade will clearly be the #1 headed into spring regardless of any newcomers, but he will have to work to keep that status as they all do.
Dabo loves all of his players. The loyalty many think was over-invested with DJ was simply a matter of him being the better option at any given time during his days here. When DJ wasn't the best option and the game seemed in doubt, Dabo made changes (see Syracuse, Notre Dame briefly, UNC). I don't envision that approach changing anytime soon.
Go Tigers!

If I were him, I'd take the hint that you aren't happy with me and look to transfer. I think we would be better off getting an elite WR to help Cade out.

I wouldn’t expect much of a response from Tigernet on this one. Many posters are waiting for Dabo to tell them it’s ok to want to use the transfer portal before an opinion is shared on the topic.
I share the same concerns about Klubnick. I don’t see how he can pack on any pounds when he is running and moving his limbs as much as he does. It sort of reminds me of my children running everywhere up and down the halls and stairs. Non stop energy expenditure.
I can’t figure out how much of the problem is Cade himself, or the total lack of a deep threat and WRs in general. I do know he looks very unnatural running the ball and we need that as a part of the offense.
I can’t wait to see how the portal shakes out this season. I totally expect Dabo to use it for improvements. I think he’s just as sick of the offense the last 3 years as the Tiger faithful are.

Unfortunately, I have not seen anything from Cade that gives me confidence for next year. As stated, lacks arm strength, does not see the field well, not a great decision maker, poor pocket presence, and not a great runner.
Let’s hope that there is allot of growth year to year. That will require better oline play next year too.

coming across the middle. He was consistent enough getting the ball to them to cause the defense to take notice of the receiver and allow us extra yards in the running game.
He struggled a bit early in the season with that play but he hit three against ND, a handful against GT and 5 against UNC. If there's one reason we scored in those games it was on Cade.
DJ never got that. He's throw too late, too high or behind the receiver and subject the ball to fall into the wrong hands. Our coaches trusted him way longer than I did.
You watch and see how many QBs can hit a crossing receiver in stride. You'll fine a few but they are few and far between. We have a great QB who is going to take us to the Playoff next year.
If I were flaming you I'd call you a blind, narrow minded idiot but since you're not qualified to officiate for the ACC you'd get no benefit from it and it would be an embarrassment to me to classify you that observant and perceptive.

I assume you actually meant Will Rogers…Mississippi State portal QB…
His gaudy stats are a result of Mike Leach Air Raid offense… without it - his stats are quite mediocre…
Also - he has a shoulder injury ….
The reality is this …tampering and NIL payoffs are how the transfer portal works…
Tampering is cheating ….Dabo won’t compromise his integrity (nor should he)….
You could argue that most programs tamper and you’d be right - but that’s not how integrity works…”well everyone else is doing it”…
The transfer portal is an unregulated free agent market - that often doesn’t benefit the student or the school…
It’s easy to focus on successes while ignoring the more abundant failures…

We're losing Tyson and I'm not sure what Helms is going to do. I would expect Dabo to bring in another QB as he has in the past. Will it be someone capable of pushing Cade is the only question. He's not going to bring in anyone with plans for them being the starter.

I suspect they spend lots of time analyzing that position and possibilities. A lot depends too on what they think vizzina's upside is. No disrespect to cade but guys get hurt during the season. You need a several solid people who can play the position. I was very disappointed we saw almost no backup qb play this year though much of that was a function of not having point margins to freely sub

Easy to be a keyboard warrior...
Cade will be fine... we need players who can catch and not fumble... that is 3 wins right there...

If we are getting a QB out of the portal, I would imagine it is Chandler Morris. He was at TCU with Riley. He lived in Clemson for a good part of his life. His Dad is on the staff. It would kill two birds with one stone- he would be both a friends & family get and would be a legitimate D1 QB.

With our #2 and #3 leaving, Dabo will definitely be taking a depth guy. Tyson and Helms are gone. That leaves only 3 on scholarship. He will look for a grad transfer to come in.

A lot of people blamed DJ for the last 2 years. This year with Cade didn’t really look a whole lot better. Anyone else think that maybe the QB isn’t the whole problem? Better WR play would have probably helped both of them….

Lagway is not that impressive to me. I guess it wouldn't help the 2024 class but the kid Antwann Hill that decommited from Colorado looks like a future star, rather have him over Hebert tbh.

Cade is a great dude but is still struggling with who to throw the ball to. He had tunnel vision against the gamecocks and the defense read his eyes and throw. If there is a big time QB out there we need to go get him or we will Play out another DJ situation.
