Let me try to sell you on an 8-team CFP

Using the Top8 teams right now ...
Round 1 Alabama beats Wiscy Clemson beats Auburn Georgia beats Oklahoma LSU beats Ohio State
Round 2 Alabama beats LSU Clemson beats Georgia
Round 3 Clemson beats Alabama
Rolling through 3 SEC teams on the way to another Natty.
No excuses left. Just a Mic drop on the entire college football establishment.

the system is fine. reward excellence. someone will always whine about being left out. Just like with hoops. increasing the numbers increases the whiners.

The old BCS formula for an 8 team playoff would work well.
Don't need a committee.
DOn't need 16 teams.

The same BCS that provided that rematch of LSU Alabama? I do agree we don’t need 16.

Every week is a playoff game. Keep winning & you’re in. The regular season matters. The more you expand the playoffs the more opportunity you give the biased SEC goons to put in their 2 loss teams. No thank you!

There will be an 8 team playoff because of the money and tv ratings. They need more of the country involved and interested.

I assure you, the millisecond Alabama is excluded from the CFB Playoffs, the Committee meeting in emergency session will the claim for the good of“the game”the playoffs will immediately expand to 8 teams. I’ll guarantee it! That’s their definition of “the good of the game”=Whatever is good for Alabama.

Not sure I agree that there are more than 4 deserving teams this year. Tons of football left to play but this is what we have seen so far from other teams the media claims deserve attention this year.
Ohio State (5-0) - Beat Florida Atlantic 45-21 - Beat Cincinnati 42-0 - Beat Indiana 51-10 - Indiana has beaten Ball State, Eastern Illinois, UConn, and lost to Mich State - Beat Miami (OH) - Win over Nebraska 48-7 - Nebraska has beaten South Alabama, lost to Colorado, beaten Northern Illinois, and Illinois
Bama (5-0) - Beat Duke 42-3 - Beat New Mexico State 62-10 - Beat the Coots - Coots did put up 459 yards of offense on Bama Defense - Beat Southern Miss 49-7 - Beat Ole Miss 59-31 - Ole Miss lost to Memphis, beat Arkansas, beat Southeastern Louisiana, and lost to Cal - Ole Miss put up 476 yards of offense against Bama while Memphis held them to 173 yards of offense
Oklahoma (5-0) - Beat Houston 49-31 - Houston has beaten Prairie View, lost to Wash State, and lost to Tulane - Beat South Dakota 70-14 - Beat UCLA 48-14 - UCLA lost to Cincinnati, lost to San Diego State, beat Wash State, and lost to Arizona - Beat Texas Tech 55-16 - TT has beaten Montana State, beat UTEP, and lost to Arizona
LSU looked the part against Texas, but we will see how that unfolds. I would say LSU could beat Bama this year but Bama would back in like they did in 2017.
Point of this is the teams that the media claims could be in the playoff this year have played exactly no one so far. Ohio State is always good for a flop against Iowa. Oklahoma is no different this year than previous years on defense.

leaving their first strings in against significantly lower tier competition. The info the guy showed puts things in better context as far as the notion that everyone else is playing heads and shoulders above better football than Clemson.

Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Ohio St., Oklahoma, and Clemson at this point can all argue they are deserving of being in the playoff. If we are one of the 3 left on the outside due to our soft schedule, we’ll be clamoring for an expanded playoff.

I didn't even mention UGA as they will find a way to play themselves out of contention. Kirby can't beat his old boss and not sure they beat Auburn this year on the plains.

Would be a lot of empty seats after first game or two. Not many people can afford a flight, Hotel and game tickets for 3 games in a month and a half span. That is if your teams keeps winning.

I am for an 8 team playoff for following reasons:
1) So teams don't feel the need to run up the score
2) So a team like Boise State or Central Florida would have a chance at a "Hoosiers" moment. everyone loves a Cinderella
3) So more teams have a chance, it would only create more interest, because far more teams would have a chance

You lost me at the point you have Georgia beating Oklahoma. Now try to sell me on a "4 team CFP" which is what we will have this year, next year and through until 2022 if memory serves me.
