Of course they will get all nervous and tense and play poorly. This is common sense.
Now, add to that go onto the court while a game is being played and shove his player ?
I have seen people fired for a lot less
Brownell should be fired immediatly and a assistant be named interim HC
I bet instant improvement.

While I don't condone that as a Modus Operandi, some coaches made it work.

That was Bobby Knight's personality. Brad Brownell is more of a "Geez, guys, we need to do better than this. I don't know how to HELP you do better, but we need to do better. Oh, and Mr. Official, that was a questionable call, I think."

Pretty much nailed it, and why these recent antics are so out of character for him. I can only remember one single technical foul he's picked up during his entire tenure here.

And he’s the best coach we’ve ever had in any sport. Try again.

The players know Dabo actually cares.
If you love em hard, you can coach em hard.

Did you watch the video of Brownell shoving Girard?

I have a sneaking suspicion that there is a disconnect between some of our players and the coaching staff.
Brownell does not exactly exude passion and compassion.

At Coaches on the sideline in the heat of the game, do they not feel loved? You people are just looked for whiney baby sheet to complain about. The guy was out of position and Brownell pushed him towards where he shoulda been. He shouldn’t have, it shoulda been a tech, but it was miles away from abuse.

Not career ending but his career st Clemson should have ended a few years back. Its getting tiresome.
Watching Clemson bball for close to 5 decades in the acc I can say unequivocally that acc refs are the most efficient at knowing when to call fouls, where to call them and who to call them on to get the most out of each call for the other team and against the Tigers. Examples..., we are on offense and get mugged in the paint so with acc refs they will call the makeup foul exactly when Clemson has steal on a 100% fast break. Other team magically has their 7'3" center play for the remaining 8 minutes with 4 fouls. Malcolm Delaney has a career night 30 points 5/14 fgs with 20/23 ft! He ran at whoever was in front of him with his head down and shoulder out then threw the ball in the air. Got a call everytime. Va tech went 38/46 from the line that day and final was 70 to 59 va tech. A half a c note worth of charity shots! Lmao! Those are just small nuggets. I watched this years team play and knew at full strength they could make the tourney but I also knew that they wouldn't win alot in acc play because of tenacity.

But there's an obvious double standard here. Dabo can do it with no issue.
Also 99% of the fans here dont watch anything other than clemson basketball, so they think all sorts of things are unique to clemson/brownell.
It is what it is.

Personally, I never liked having a coach screaming at me from the sidelines with useless information that distracted me from playing the game. The game on TV where the coaches were moved very close to the TV broadcast table made it very apparent that BB was a constant chatterbox to the point where the players came to ignore his rants. Personally, I would never play for a coach who does this. Not only is it demeaning to the players and to the coach himself, but after a while it becomes senseless chatter which everyone ignores anyway.

GOOD coaches yell at bad foul calls, refs ... NOT berating players during game

That's trailer park trash stuff. You correct players at timeouts or when they have been pulled. And's it INSTRUCTION, not ### were you doing ?
Other coaches people used as examples of people who screamed alot DID NOT berate their players on the floor.

the yelling isn't quite enough in my book because I can remember many times in H.S. coaches yelling at players........but the shoving is. I don't think anyone wants to play for a coach like that.

I am no Brownell apologist but I thought he was more redirecting the guy.
Hollering never bothered me. Sometimes it could be a good thing when it is obviously needed for being out of position or coach felt we were playing a little lax. I personally liked it more than the guy that stands there with his arms folded.

Back in the day when I was playing football, I thought the face mask was for the coach to grab and throw me to the ground. And this coach played for Coach Howard. He used to tell us how Coach Howard used to spit tobacco juice in his helmets when they did something wrong.

So should we be concerned with the administration’s inaction? If none, they are saying “ not a big deal”, right? Or just another situation where Coach gets a pass due to the football distractions this week?
