Won’t someone help the billionaire business genius?

Exactly. No victim = no crime. I’m still trying to figure out how you ask a bank for a loan, they evaluate your assets, you come to a mutual agreement and both agree to the terms of a loan, pay back the loan in full, and somehow end up owing NYC 500 million dollars. Makes no sense.

And further, when a person declares bankruptcy, it falls to institutional investors and insurers (typically the federal government, i.e., taxpayers) to cover the lost funds in the bankruptcy. Donald Trump has declared bankruptcy SIX (6) times. You're not going to find names of institutional investors and shareholders who took the hits for his actions, but they exist, and they are, per letter of the law, victims. As are taxpayers like you and me.
But by all means, keep beating the drum that these were victimless crimes, as if his bankruptcies didn't actually happen, and didn't force others to take on the consequences. Whether it's one big half a billion dollar hit to a single investor (which appears to be the smoking gun you're looking for), or it's spread over 6,000 investors, that hit still has to be covered.

It's this. The funny part is they're screaming that it's all politically motivated, but their blind political partisanship for Trump makes them refuse to even consider that perhaps he actually committed wrongdoing.
I partly think they really know he did these things but admitting to it would feel like conceding a loss, in some sense.

That’s the new post-Trump world we live in. Never apologize, never admit when you’re wrong, never admit you don’t know something. If you say a hurricane is going to affect Alabama, draw a sharpie circle to include part of Alabama by god.

Inflating asset value provides more perceived leverage to get larger loans
2
Mar 22, 2024, 10:08 AM
|
|
that an individual or entity actually should not have access to with accurately-valued assets. When said individual or entity defaults on those loans and declares bankruptcy, others are affected by those actions, i.e., "victims". Loans based on accurately-valued assets that result in default and bankruptcy isn't criminal. Loans based on inflated assets that lead to default and bankruptcy can be and often are considered criminal.
Maybe you didn't realize this. And I'm not going to explain how message boards work, but it's obvious to everybody else that his reply was not attached to your post in any fashion.

Dude. I don’t know how you don’t understand this. The bank evaluated his assets and their worth. They came to an agreement on a loan and terms. He paid the loan back.
There was no bankruptcy in this case. How in the f could he inflate his assets when the #### bank was doing the assessment??

Plus it just plain distorts everything for everybody. When you're paying the insurance company at massively deflated rates, everybody else who needs insurance picks up the difference. And on at least half his years filing taxes, the man paid zero taxes. Zero. Or $750, a couple of years. I paid out almost $60K last year. When you're paying taxes at those massively deflated rates, everybody else pays your share. And then, because you were cheating, the bank thinks you're a better risk than you actually are...even if you roll the dice and win, you still put them at risk - which effs things up for the rest of us in the form of raised rates - and on six different occasions in the past, his lenders lost that bet.
But sure. Victimless. Rich guys can do what they want, as long as it turns out all right in the end. And hey, even if it doesn't, we pick up the tab, right guys?

I’m not voting for anyone currently running. Hopefully No Labels puts up a good ticket.
Having said that, I think everyone should relax re: Trump becoming a dictator. He said whether jokingly or not, that he would be a dictator for a day.
We’ve already survived Biden’s dictator for a day moment when he forgave some student debt after being told no by the SCOTUS.
The military will not support a dictatorship nor at least half the country.
If that’s all Joe has going this time, he deserves to lose.
Fear mongering is certainly not exclusive to Team Trump members.
