Dabo want to leave ACC?

Had a buddy of mine (not Clemson fan - just CFB fan) ask me if Dabo wants to leave ACC. I honestly was not sure what I thought Dabo thought. What is the consensus? If Dabo had the only vote and if it could happen just based on his vote...would he say let's leave ACC?

I agree that is kind of answer Dabo would give…just wondered what most folks think he would do in this current state of CFB if he had the only say. My buddy is actually big Dabo fan and he just wondered same thing.

Now was that coach speak? Maybe, but bet your ### he wants to play the best and be the best. So he knows what needs to happen here.

"We are a lock - one of three, that are a lock - so that's a pretty good accomplishment, I guess . . ."
And then go get his doors blown off by an over-matched team.

Winning means we must be on a level playing field financially. Thus Dabo wants to leave.

Excellent post, to continue to be a football power, we must have equal revenue. The ACC bargained that away.

I hope our leadership weights current coaches' opinions very little.

This is a decision which will shape the university in a significant way for generations to come. While I think the opinions of Dabo, Brownell, etc. are welcomed, they should not get to help make this decision.
Knowing Dabo, I am confident he will support whatever decision is made.

Joining the SEC or Big Ten is a relatively short transition.
The SEC and Big Ten are going to collapse within the next 20 years.
There is no way that money will be shared with schools like Rutgers and Maryland.

I always liked Tommy Bowden's answer to questions like that. "I'm a company man"
Smart to be in line with the entity that signs your paychecks.

Don't think that is Dabo...if he feels that leaving will save Clemson then he would want t o leave...don't think leaving the ACC will save us...UT and TAMU have had more money than everyone h e else forever...it ain't just money...and we are never going to be as big as OSU or Mich or Bama...when you don't dance with who bring you bad things can happen...without us as a founding member the ACC will be just tobacco and basketball!

First and foremost, Dabo will want Clemson to be able to remain competitive with the other elites. As the money gap grows by us staying in the ACC, that makes it much more difficult. Second, I think the SEC and B1G are going to control the narrative when the next major reorganization takes place and you probably would rather be a part of that than let them control your destiny if you are still an ACC member.

If Dabo wanted to win national titles with both hands tied behind his back, then he would have taken a job at Coastal Carolina a long time ago.
That's what Clemson will become if it doesn't move and Dabo knows it.
Let us not forget that Dabo was the one who is on the record saying that the whole system is going to get blown up and the school who wish to stay competitive will be doing things their way sooner rather than later.
That statement told us where he stands on Clemson's future.

When the playoff system began, Dabo did not want to leave the ACC. That idea was proposed to him many times, and he emphatically stated that staying in the ACC was in Clemson’s best interest, presumably because it gave us the best path to making the top 4.
Now, things have drastically changed due to realignment. No one saw that coming. If Clemson doesn’t leave the ACC soon, we are going to be squashed financially in due time. We have to leave.
If FSU, Clemson, and perhaps UNC and Miami are successful in leaving, I believe a new realignment will take place involving those teams and perhaps other ACC teams if the conference collapses. The NCAA will likely collapse as well.
I will be shocked if that hasn’t been discussed behind the scenes. I don’t think we would leave without some place better to land. Further, I don’t think this will happen overnight. These legal battles will likely take years, but as far as I’m concerned, the sooner the better.

I’m guessing he takes the Goldberg approach of “Who’s next!?!”.
