You're right about that MyfavOrange®.
FYI, TJ Watt (Wisconsin college / Pittsburgh in NFL) was a 3* player.
I'll make the leap here and put TJ Watt in the "beast" category (if one calls a paltry 22.5 sacks in 2021 season as good).
Let's see if J.Lawson can eat enough chicken livers to get close to his big brother's size.

Great example! I also had an uncle that lived in a car crash because he wasn't wearing a seatbelt. Therefore, we should all not wear seatbelts

There was this one guy ETN...
***If memory serves me correct was a 3 star at the time and then upgraded post commitment. Anyways, if I'm wrong just goes to show ya stars are pretty interpretive.

I’m excited about Eason being on board. I think he will help out a lot with getting things back to where Coach Hobby had them!

He obviously has some development potential. Red Shirt freshman year. If he is close to the player Shaq was, I hope he comes to Clemson!
Go Tigers!

Those are the players we need. We have 4 and 5 Stars. The reality is now if they don’t play right away they transfer. So to have a player that is a redshirt sophomore Will be a win.

He will gain weight. Guys like Dallas Turner for Bama are 6’-4” 245. He is a true freshman and was a beast. Hoping Little Lawson can get to Dallas’ level and be an extreme threat on the edge rush.

I like your optimism but Dallas Turner was ranked the 9th best recruit in the nation last year. This was his freshman year and it looks like he went to Bama weighing 245. He plays more of an OLB position and doesn’t play with his hand in the dirt which if Lawson switches to a LB then I have no concerns.

I said a lot of weight. The defensive ends that get significant playing time in this defense weigh around 260lbs. Not everyone can put on 45lbs+ and still move and perform with that much weight gained. Maybe he’d be better suited to play LB similar to Simpson and could blitz occasionally.

I want to say he was from Rockhill or the upstate. Had great film, really thin and quick, and never really panned out. La something was his last name I believe.

He isn't going to be ready to play now. We don't need him to play now. So why not wait and recruit a better one in 2023?

he'll probably easily be 230 by this fall. In fact now that I look 247 shows him already at 230. likely 250 by the time he's a RS FR. By the time he sees the field significantly if he earns time(upper classmen) he will be 260+. He plays basketball too right now which is going to play a large part into the weight fluctuation. Once he moves to football only and trains/lifts for that only then I doubt there will be any issue at all with getting to the desired weight. He's 6'4 with the frame to support it.

He has a lot of twitch and quickness seems to be a natural rusher. We can put weight on him but we can make him fast and quick and give him speed. He has the natural gifts that when he gets the needed size will make him a big problem for other teams. We need guys like this to go with the four and five stars.

He will probably be 250 by the time he is done redshirting. That's still 18 months away.

I sometimes feel like I am the only old-timer on this board who is concerned at all about this year's recruiting class.
Shoot, I have been mindlessly following this stuff since before 1995. I even wrote the first recruiting columns on Tigernet a long time ago.
I am old, yeah.

I am concerned, but not only with this class but the future with the NIL.
But we have had some fall backs that have been great players. More recently ETN and Isiah Simmons. Boy those guys turned out pretty good. Then there is that Renfrow guy who walked on. He was pretty solid.
Can we continue to have classes like this to stay elite. No. But don’t be surprised when we fall into a couple of really good players that were not expected with this class.

Exactly, at this point why not. I am extremely concerned about this recruiting class, but the mistakes that were made were made several months ago. Now we can either fill the spots with project players, slightly above average players with little upside whose best chance of seeing the field is for us to continue to digress, or a handful of walk ons that will likely never see meaningful minutes regardless of how the program fares. At least with the project recruits, the potential is there for them to turn into something great.

One kinda down recruiting class on the heels of a disappointing season with our staff being gutted. Not thrilled but I guess it's not as bad as it could be.

you know exactly how great things are now, even on the heels of a bit of a down year with some disruption in coaching continuity.
I’m waiting until,February 2 before passing any final judgement on this class.
This class is loaded with really high quality in the areas we will need it most.
5-star QB, two high 4-star WRs, two high 4-star OL, two high 4-star DB, good shot at a high 4-star DL.
With the 5-star guys who are returning, DE is not an immediate concern.
What we do next recruiting class will tell the tale.
Plus, the transfer portal. Getting Hunter Johnson to suit up and expect to be nothing more than insurance is so Hugh for 2022.

Don't let the fact that Daniel likely beat your high school teams every year. Trust Dabo and our coordinators if they have offered Lawson a spot.

The decision is more difficult than it may appear. How motivated is he to compete. Does he desire to play or practice and develope. What are his future goals. Does he want to coach. Which school will give him the best opportunity for his future. Obviously Clemson is the best offer but might not align with his goals.

The genes are already there. He’s got a couple of years to get bigger. Being as fast as Isaiah Simmons though? Probably not.
