I'll get it started.. has to be Tampa Bay's HC John McKay's response when asked: Reporter - "What do you think about the execution of your offense?" McKay - "I'd be in favor of it".
Good ole tangerine "Tampa Bay".

"Well, we didn't block, but we made up for it by not tacklin'."
I wasn't even born when he stopped coaching, but he's one of my favorite coaches of all-time just b/c of his legendary quips.

Legendary John McKay with this memorable quote :
Dec 19, 2018, 5:44 PM
|
|
Emotion is highly overrated in football. My wife Corky is emotional, but cant play football worth a ####!
Still laugh thinking of the reaction to the media anytime they ask him a question knowing it was going to be memorable and most likely funny as heck. He would really be something with the media now, probably be out of a job pretty quick unfortunately.

Think it goes back much further than Woody, probably when passing was first instituted. I know I heard it from my HS coach in 1960 and it was an old saying then.

Could be, not sure but for some reason I remember it Woody and his 3 yards and a cloud of dust offense and that quote.

I love Dabo quotes but couldn't resist...LOL
"Clemson is scared to death of Will Muschamp's progress. That's a big part of this game as well.
We are the up and coming team. They are cycling out. We're cycling in. That's a big part of the fear from the Tigers right now."
GO TIGERS!

Still one of my favorites... from Sports Illustrated, Aug 8, 1983
George Rogers, New Orleans Saints running back, asked if he had any goals for this season: "I want to gain 1,500 or 2,000 years, whichever comes first."

Green Bay Packers coach Vince Lombardi was screaming at his players for their poor performance and said:
"We're going back to basics!" and with that, held up a football and said "THIS is a football!".
Max McGee (Green Bay's resident lead drunk) said: Coach, can you take that a little slower?"
At the start of the first Super Bowl, Max (who was a backup to Boyd Dowler) who had ignored team curfew and stayed out all night and was a bit hung over told first string WR Boyd Dowler "I hope you don't get hurt.... I'm not feeling too well". As luck would have it Dowler went down early with a separated shoulder and McGee was up. He had not brought a helmet onto the field and had to borrow one to enter the game on the second series. He made a one-handed catch on a post route and scored the first ever Super Bowl TD.

John Madden:
If you see a defense team with dirt and mud on their backs they've had a bad day.
The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.
When you have great players, playing great, well that’s great football.

off a guy's finger because he stuck it in his facemask, trying to poke his eye or some other dirty deed.
When asked why he did it, Jim said, " Everything outside the mask is his...everything inside the mask is mine."
I chuckle at that a lot.

From the Funky Winkerbean cartoon in the paper, the football coach, "When the offense is on the field we can't score, when the defense is on the field we can't stop them. The assistants and I are stumped!" Or was it Muschamp?
Coach who punted on the 35 yard line down 5 pts with under a minute to go, "Frankly, I thought it was the end of the 3rd quarter."
