Clemson, SC—Clemson finished in sixth place in the nine-team field at The Blessings in Fayettevilel, Arkansas on Wednesday when the final round was rained out after 90 minutes of play.

It was unfortunate for Jordan Byrd’s Tigers because Clemson had played the first five holes in three under par as a team and had moved to fourth place. But the rules state that when the final round is rained out the official results of the tournament revert to the end of the previous round.

Host school Arkansas won the tournament by six shots with a 13-under-par score of 563. Mississippi State finished in second place at 569 and third ranked Washington was third with a 577 total. Kentucky finished fourth at 590, Minnesota was fifth at 591 and Clemson was sixth at 593, one shot ahead of league rival NC State. South Carolina was eighth at 600.

Senior Jonathan Nielsen fired a three-under-par 69 on Tuesday on the par 72 layout that is over 7700 yards. His 143 score for the 36 holes gave him a sixth-place individual finish, tops among Tigers and his second top 10 finish as a Clemson golfer.

The native of Denmark had played the first five holes in three-under-par and was in second place when the rain came on Wednesday, but those scores will not count. The rain wiped out his third career eagle on the par five 10th hole, his first hole of the round.

Kian Rose and Callahan Keever both had rounds of 75 on Tuesday. Keever, who had a team best 72 in the first round, finish at 147, good enough for 21st place in his first career tournament in the Clemson lineup. Rose finish with a 152 total, good enough of 37th place.

Sophomore Thomas Higgins had three straight birdies on the back nine on Tuesday and finished with a 77. He finished in 34th place with a 151 total. Andrew Swanson had a 77 on Tuesday and finished in 43rd place with a 155 total after 36 holes.

Clemson returns to the course October 13 at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate in Alpharetta, Ga.

43rd out of 45 players. Ouch, not good from your team leader. Is he hurt? But that's golf. Glad Keever got the start but will baker should have been there too. Please play the players you recruit instead of transfers when they're better. You may only have Will for 2 or 3 years, he's most likely going 2b that good.

As it stands currently, Clemson wouldn't make regionals. Apologies for being so harsh and critical, but this was a very weak men's golf tournament. Ashamed it got rained out. Especially when they could have finished.... I guess it was travel plans and teams couldn't stick around.

The Blessings Collegiate Invitational team score board shows the Tigers finishing 7th and not 6th.Hate they did not get the final round in because when I checked around lunch time our time, the Tiger men's team was in 5th place midway thru their round before the rain caught them. Was hoping they could finish the final round, move way on up the scoreboard and make up for the rough showing they in the first tournament of the fall when they finished 13th out of 14 teams at the Tennessee Intercollegiate.Nice to see the women's team keep their momentum going in the fall with two 3rd place finishes so far. With everybody back from last season's ACC Tournament Championship team I think we're in for something even more special from the Kelly Hester's team this year.
