search that said Microsoft makes $168,000,000 in PROFIT, EVERY.SINGLE.DAY.
~130 schools play FBS level football, with 85 scholarship players each. That is a pool of 11,050 players. Now, there are not going to be more than ten players on any team on average that are getting significant NIL deals. Let the schools themselves deal with the other 75. For those ten, provide a pool of $1,000,000 average per player. How it is distributed will be determined by performance on the field. It will be prorated from 1st to 10th place moneywise just like pro golf tournament purses, with the winner getting the biggest share.
Doing it this way would have the immediate effect of spreading out the talent to ALL the 130 FBS schools, as players would have MORE of a chance at that top money at a school that currently had less talent, so they would move for the money, just as they are doing now. The difference is, the large Alumni bases would no longer have a prohibitive advantage.
The cost to Microsoft for this program, while steep at $1.300,000,000, actually amounts to only ~7.73 DAYS of profit for Microsoft. The government could even be smart and give Gates a tax break for that money. Problem solved, C'mon, Bill!

Why just Bill Gates and not Elon Musk and big oil? If we are going to redistribute wealth I'd rather the guys and girls working steel mills and farms get that.

Please don't suggest ways to spend other people's money. The government will take your idea, pay them directly, and charge YOU.

industry working for DuPont, I read somewhere that Microsoft was making ~100 million every three days. This was at a time when our product, Dacron polyester staple fiber, was making a couple pennies a pound profit if we were LUCKY. Now, Gates is making more than 168 million in PROFIT, EVERY day. Some truly mime bottling numbers.

He's likely too pre-occupied with peddling GMO foods, fake meat, shady shots for poor countries, and who knows what else.

If any of you fellow TNETTERS have access to him personally, please inform him that I have the investment opportunity of a lifetime for him. It's a company called Crosswinds Energy which is now wholly owned as a subsidiary of Prestige Worldwide. For more information, Mr. Gates should contact Mr. Finnegan at his earliest opportunity. Right now, our offering for the IPO pre-launch is One-Hunnit-Dollars per share. Get it while it's hot Bill! My boy Chris will set him up real nice.
GO TIGERS!
Chris Finnegan
