big track meet today!

It's the Tiger Paw Invitational: the last home track meet of the season, and it's the biggest and the best one out of all of them in the regular season for Clemson. With just 2 weeks left before the ACC championships, this will be the preferred last regular season meet for most athletes. There will be "last chance" meets next weekend to offer a last opportunity to those who still haven't qualified for championships, but the preferred way of doing things is to finish your regular season competition at least 2 weeks in advance so as to have plenty of time to rest up before conference. In other words, for most of the more accomplished athletes, this will be their last regular season meet. This is the ideal situation to try to focus on running a good time and making sure you're tuned up at whatever events you'll be running in the postseason.
For that reason, this will almost certainly be the most high-stakes and entertaining track meet of the regular season, and it should feature the best athletes and competition. A massive slate of elite teams will be bringing large groups of athletes to the meet, including Auburn, Alabama, Baylor, Cornell, Duke, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Georgetown, Illinois, Miami, Mississippi State, North Carolina A&T, NC State, Ohio State, Penn, Pittsburgh, Princeston, Penn State, Purdue, South Carolina, Syracuse, Texas A&M, Tennessee, UCF, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, and Virginia. A few athletes from Penn, Princeston, and Michigan will also be competing.
Competition begins with the field events starting at 11:00 AM Friday (today), followed shortly by the track events beginning at noon. The meet will run until shortly after 5:30 PM before breaking for the night. The meet will resume with the field events starting at 9:00 AM the next day (Saturday) and the track events again starting at noon. The meet will conclude shortly after 4:00 PM that afternoon. Can't tell ya how excited I am for this one, it should be a great meet. If you want to try going to a home track meet, this would absolutely be the one to go see (plus it's the last one of the season.) Either way, I'm looking forward to it, GO TIGERS!
