Late 1980’s road game against NC State - I remember

A rain soaked game but I can’t find any video of it. I thought it was on TV. I want to say we lost and I remember the rain being heavy at times in the 2nd Half. I as anyone else at the game?

I was there. You’re right, we stank it up from the get go.

Rodney Williams hit his O lineman in the back of the helmet at least 3 times, long ride home.

season in '87 in the Valley was the near miraculous comeback. We were down 30-0 at the half and Rodney Williams came out slinging the ball to make it 30-28 and that's how it ended after we got the ball late at midfield on a punt. That was a heartbreaker. Coach Ford led victories over some legendary coaches...Woody Hayes, Barry Switzer, Tom Osborne, Joe Paterno, Bobby Bowden, right off the top of my head...but #### Sheridan at NCSU had Clemson's number. It was frustrating.

the 86 game was on cbs. we played terrible. the 1988 game was a slug fest. the only reason clemson lost was we snapped the ball over the punter's head and ncsu recovered on our 10 yard line. we never played well in raleigh in those days. i think the 1990 game was one of those defensive games where we needed a dexter davis fumble recovery for a touchdown to win. i love those teams but we had alot of close games because we didn't throw the ball much.

school who was a student at State. We went together to the State Clemson games for several years. State had beaten UNC a few weeks before so their fans were thinking they had the ACC won, saw signs that night saying The Pack is Back. Then they choked a few weeks later and we won the ACC, same pattern the next two years. We lost to State but still won the ACC.
I also remember watching the World Series that night after the game, that was the game that Buckner had the ball roll through his legs and the Red Sox let a title slip away.

Carter-Finley was until it was renovated a few years later during Chuck Amato's tenure at State.
That old press box looked like a double wide mobile home on stilts.

you tried to yell 'REVERSE!!' with a bulky mouthpiece in your mouth. Ha.
Spurrier being there during crappy weather probably put a mojo on us. 3 years later in a monsoon at Duke he was coaching the Devils and that was another horrible day.
