Quote from ESPN on ACC

Can't put lipstick on a pig. The good news is getting down this far this early gives the ACC (and Tigers) maximum time to get back on track.
"The ACC went 0-4 in non-conference games against Power Five opponents, including Miami's 44-13 loss to top-ranked Alabama in the first Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game of the holiday weekend on Saturday.
In addition, No. 10 North Carolina was upset in a conference game by unranked Virginia Tech, while Georgia Tech and Duke suffered embarrassing losses to Northern Illinois and Charlotte, respectively."

Florida State looked really good in taking ND to OT, and in our defense (pun intended) both UGa and CU offenses sucked. UGa got the break needed, and we didn't. It could've pretty easily gone the other way. Keep in mind also that our defense was missing two starters and still held UGa to zero offensive touchdowns.
Things aren't yet as bad as they seems. The teams that are bad are the ones we pretty much knew were bad, such as GT. Miami got beat by arguably the best team in the nation. Louisville is one of those "who knows" teams that usually sucks but can surprise you. And Duke, well, basketball season isn't far away. Regarding UNC, they were playing a VaTech team that has been working it's way back and was playing at home - that's a tough environment to play in, and their stadium was HYPED. Last, it was the FIRST game of the season. That gives DJ a little bit more of an excuse than Howell, but still, that's always a variable.
Clemson still has plenty of time to recover. VaTech and FSU could be on their way back. Miami still has room to improve. So... who knows.

UNC ran into a proverbial buzz saw in Lane on Friday evening. People attending the game report it was the loudest they've ever heard a crowd in a football stadium from beginning to end of the game. Hated rival/players playing for coaches on the hot seat/plus pent up demand from COVID.
Still, no excuse for UNC to be better prepared. It took the defense a quarter to start playing and the offense never got on track. Credit obviously goes to the Hokie coaches and players with an assist from their fans.

What do you mean UGA got the break it needed but Clemson didn't? UGA turned the ball over on their side of the 50 twice.

trying to put together a Super Conference by convincing the top 2 teams from the BIG12,PAC12,B1G and the ACC to join the Superconference where they'd only have to sign one BIG $$$ contract because they are lacking $$$ of years past ? By the way if this plan works, the 2 bottom feeders in the SEC(ie Vandy & UofSC) gotta go.
For all the mentally challenged - WHAT ESPN THINKS DOESN'T MATTER. It's the COMMITTEE that matters.

And, teams from other conferences will lose games, sometimes clunkers. As one lady use to sing...."We've Only Just Begun."

Clemson lost and has no chance at the playoffs.
Clemson is winning big but still has no chance at playoffs
Some teams on Clemson schedule are showing signs of life, most think it won’t be enough to get Clemson into the playoffs.
1st CFB playoff poll is out and Clemson is in better position than most thought possible after their season opening, embarrassing loss to UGA from the SEC.
Clemson has worked their way into the top 4 of the playoff rankings, but it’s more about what others have done than what they have done.
Clemson has made it into the college football playoffs for a record 7th straight year, but will have to face a quality opponent for the first time since their season opener.
Clemson and bama to meet again for the national title. Bama tries to shake off fatigue after brutal SEC schedule while Clemson seems well rested.
College football must expand to 12 teams so Clemson will at least have to play quality opponents in the post season.

ESPN does not say much about Vandy's loss, which is equal to GA Tech.

Does it really matter?

When Alabama destroys Miami, UGA beats Clemson, and Ole Miss blows out Louisville, it matters a lot less that the worst team in the SEC lost to East Tenn St.
The worst result for the SEC was probably LSU losing at UCLA.
