what a great movie it is. It's based on Stephen King's book like another great prison movie, The Shawshank Redemption.
Here's my list of greatest prison movies:
1. The Shawshank Redemption 1994 2. Papillon 1973 3. Cool Hand Luke 1967 4. Bridge on the River Kwai 1957 5. Midnight Express 1978 6. The Great Escape 1963 7. Empire of the Sun 1987 8. In the Name of the Father 1993 9. Stalag 17 1953 10. The Green Mile 1999

and wondered exactly how East Bound and Down became the standard over West Bound and Down. They play west first even though the down part doesn't add up.

have to do with why one became the standard. NOTHING, that is what. And who in the hell questioned the movie? Do you not know there are two versions?
Go sit down. I swear come at me with some weak ### #### like that. grumble grumble.

Well that requires knowing why you think it's the standard?

I enjoy both versions in the movie equally, because they are musical excellence. I'm sorry you don't appreciate both equally.
That's like saying Big Enos Burdette is the standard Burdette.

Why do I think it is the standard, y'all hear this, he's asking

why I think it is the standard. You start playing that song for a crowd of Gen X and younger boomers, the first word they sing at the top if their lungs is not going to be west and you know it.
Maybe you need to take some lessons from TRDJ on being a difficult cuss.
Not that we have that out of the way, the question how it got to be thata way. I'm not in the age bracket to have had any influence on that.

Shawshank is probably my all time favorite movie of any genre.
Unbroken was another good one IMO.

Tied at first with CHL getting the slight edge over The Great Escape.
Second is another tie with Bridge and Stalag 17.
Third is yet another tie with The Green Mile, Shawshank.
Down around 6 sling 'em around in a sock and see which one comes out first. They are all worth of the top ten, imo.
