One BCS school signed 30 kids:(Bad Beer & Bourbon)

Feb 6, 2015, 9:20 AM

Spurrier managed to sign 30 kids again. Spuurier grabs the 30 pack of NATTY LIGHT and Dabo picks up some bottles of fine Bourbon. The 30 pack starts off poorly and ends even worse. Dabo's bottles start off great and age to be even better Bourbon. Just a recruiting observation simplified to alcohol.

Of those 30, five or six are known academic casualties....

which is just one reason why their class ranking is grossly over-inflated.

I don't remember specifically.....

but I do know that by the time they finish-up at JuCo, Spurrier may be long gone so the possibility certainly exists that they may never actually see the inside of a classroom at $CU.

As I undersand it, three or four of them are definite candidates to be signed and placed while two or three others still have a BIG uphill climb in order to qualify academically which is why they deliberately over-signed.

Not many of them

To me, it makes absolutely no sense to sign

players who cannot qualify under NCAA minimum rules. Even if these kids are placed in the equivalent of a Fork Union or Oak Hill, they STILL aren't bound by their commitment and the recruiting process starts all over again. PLUS, they've not learned the "system" --defensively or offensively--nor have they competed against the talent.

Clemson very seldom suffers more than one non-qualifier per recruiting season any more. Coach Swinney's staff seems to make it a point to identify those with academic issues and makes it clear to those kids that the grades HAVE to be in order. Clemson is far from perfect, but to read schools having 4 or 5 non-qualifiers seems ridiculous....and to oversign COUNTING on that many "non-q's" is a waste of time and money.... Those staffs are not doing a good job recruiting, IMO,

Spurrier isnt going to be there long enough for it to matter

signing a bunch of academic casualties and JuCo transfers is a desperation move by a lame duck coach.

And didn't even have a top 20 class to show for it per ESPN. If we had 4 more to make 30, we'd probably be top 2. I'm sure atleast 3 would be 4-5 star players.
