Close encounters of the drug cartel kind, APM edition.

So APM has the kind of job where he hears stuff that would shock most people, but after a while it all kinda sounds the same and not much really gets APM's attention.

Well, yesterday was different. APM did an eval with a muhphukkah who was an actual, real life former CDS drug cartel dealer.

Dude was fascinating.

First of all, he was White. Clean cut guy who never messed with drugs himself. I was kind of doubting his story at first then he got into the details and most importantly switched to some Spanish that sounded as real as one of celtic's eses from the restaurant.

He told me how he got good at selling. How it was always important to have a good looking girl at your side because buyers bought more when they saw a pretty girl. He still has a stable of them but doesn't sleep with any of them. One was with him on the ride to the appointment.

I asked what drugs he sold and he said everything. I asked what was most popular, he said meth.

He also told me how he avoids the places where the CDS guys hang out because like an addict who starts jonesing for drugs in old environments, he starts jonesing for money.

He got busted and did ONE YEAR of a 250-year sentence because 1) it was a first offense and 2) he had a great lawyer (drug money will buy you that I suppose). But he is on the straight and narrow and has to report to a PO for 5 years. One slip and he has 250 years hanging over him.

Finally, I asked if he was scared that the CDS guys would come after him. He said no, not at all. They loved him and knew he was a great producer. His only fear was getting sucked back into the lifestyle.

This all sounds interesting and even glamorous, but homey got sucked into it for the thrill after coming back from Iraq. He said nothing compared to the intensity of combat, but the money and the danger in the drug business got him hooked.

Lesson: APM is grateful for his relatively boring life.

Had no idea Coach Dabo Swinney had a drug cartel

2

Nov 7, 2023, 3:52 PM

Maybe he is spending more time coaching up his cartel leaders this year. And that is why football is falling short compared to most years.

That fear might be misplaced.

If you're working for Sinaloa and end up getting one year inside out of a 250 stretch then SOMEBODY in the org has to be wondering who he told what to.

Get your fees upfront, my friend. If he's telling the truth about everything, I'm not sure I'd want to be standing anywhere near him.

ringofhonor-rhtig.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That's what I was thinking but he seemed pretty relaxed about it.***

That demeanor probably served him well in his line of work.

2

Nov 7, 2023, 4:03 PM

It also might be why he ends up in pieces.

ringofhonor-rhtig.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

A detail I left out - when he was caught it was supposed to be his mother

Nov 7, 2023, 4:06 PM

they were busting. he had set her up as an underling - partly to help her financially and partly because she had had drug problems in the past and it was a way to keep an eye on her. I know, I know, diabetic in a candy factory, but whatevs. He had his reasons.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg2016_nascar_champ.gif flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He will probably be fine. If there is one thing the Sinaloa cartel is known for,

it is taking it easy on former high level dealers because they were loved and good producers.

I guarantee you he didn't get 250 years for selling to junkies in an alley.

2

Nov 7, 2023, 4:11 PM [ in reply to So he was selling to users? Or higher up the laddrer?*** ]

That kind of sentence meant he was moving some serious weight and probably never even saw anybody knotted up. The kind of people he was most likely selling TO probably were just as bad as who he was selling FOR, I'd wager. I'd be just as worried about the downstream AND the upstream if I was in his shoes.

It’s the unaffiliated guy that the Sinaloa cartel thinks a made guy is sharing his deepest secrets with.

Meth being most popular checks out from the enforcement side.

The limited stories he can tell are also fascinating.

Them cartels are run better than Fortune 500 companies.

Of course theyre run better

They aren’t encumbered by the boat anchor that is the modern day HR department.

Large cartels are the most efficiently-run criminal organizations in the world.

1

Nov 8, 2023, 8:01 AM

The Mafia, HellsAngels, and the United States government aren't even close to being as well-oiled as the cartel machine is.

ringofhonor-rhtig.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

But make no mistake, they DO have HR departments.
