Just on a whim looked up used values on Chevy Avalanches.....holy crap. They haven't been made since 2013, and their values used to hold pretty steady with Silverados. Not anymore. A nice 13 Avalanche with 50k miles is worth the same as a 15 Silverado LTZ with 40k miles.
The law of supply and demand strikes again.

Jimmy. Loved that truck (it was my first car too, later on).
Main thing I remember though, was that when we got dumped on with about 14" of snow in Greenville in 1985, it was special, because almost no one had 4wd. We'd go out driving, and besides the occasional Jeep, see nobody. Just 5 years later that had changed, with everyone and their brother owning either Jeep Cherokees or Ford Explorers, you couldn't keep snow on a road for 24 hours.

2 door Tahoe/Yukon to daily drive. I love those and there's nothing like them anymore. Would make a nice first car for junior in a year or so when he starts driving.

They're badazz, IMHO, and poised to see a lot of appreciation sooner than later. They're already going up a little. You could find them all day long for $7500 or less a couple years ago. Can't find a nice one now for less than 12-15k.

A lot easier to flat fender or replace after it's inevitably involved in some sort of front end collision....whether it be mailboxes or the side of a ravine.

eye opening. That thing leaked like a sieve from every possible place from the rear diff to the radiator. Made me realize what kind of manufacturing one can expect from Toledo. I've had old British cars that were drier under the hood than that thing. It was cool, but I wouldn't do it again.

Well, one was technically an LJ. You could see the spot welds through the paint and I wouldn't trust the roll cage to sit on...but they were reliable if nothing else. Aside from the rebuilt auto tranny's every 50k miles, but admittedly I drive like a lunatic and was pulling 500 lbs. over the tow rating on a weekly basis.

I was kicking tires on some 2500's a few weeks ago and looked at a 4 door Rubicon....$46k lulz. For that kind of money it better at least have a Hemi.

Still liking your 2500?

How's it ride? We're wanting to start hauling the boat to some different lakes next year, Lanier, Cumberland, etc. and since I'm racking up the mileage on mine I've considered bumping up to one. Seems like a good excuse since I got about 5 mpg with my Hemi towing it to Jocassee, and that's about what the Yukon gets not towing anything.

And admittedly, I no longer need a 2500 to tow my boat now. I have toyed with selling it but I don't because 1) it's paid for, and 2) rednecks REALLY like it, and because of that, I feel pretty badass driving it. I don't drive it much though. I looked at a new Tundra a couple months ago and was going to trade even for a new Platinum. I knew the Tundra won't be worth near that much next year, but my 2500 probably will...so I didn't do it. And the Tundra won't get the same gas mileage my diesel does.
If I lower the air pressure in the tires to around 50 PSI, the ride is tolerable. If I put the tires at what they are supposed to be (like 65 in the front, 75 rear) it rides like a wood wheeled wagon. And that's when I hate it.

How much does your hurricane weigh? I think mine around 3400# full of gear/gas and I still get about 12-13 mpg hauling it with frequent stops at lights.

Around 4700 pounds dry, so probably a little over 5k with full gas tank, water tank, etc. I'd say the trailer is an additional 1k, so full set up just over 6k. My truck pulls it fine, but it did NOT like the hills going up to Jocassee.

Unless you're super manly and opt for the crew cab with an 8' bed.

It's hard enough to park mine that has a 145" wheelbase because the parking lots around here are so dang small. I had a couple of s10s that I could whip around anywhere tho

changing. I don't want a 4 door truck. I can see an extended cab being useful. I just don't want a truck that is a people mover unless they are riding in the bed like the good ole days.
