are saying. They are frustrated that pretty much all he said was "The Bible said this..." I don't believe he said that enough. I thought he tried to "explain" too much. I believe creation by faith, not because I can make sense of it scientifically. Creation is not a science; it is a doctrine.

Also, paleontology is also out because it directly contradicts Genesis. Hmm same with Astronomy.

You love all 3, but believe the same thing the Young Earth Guy does, because I'm pretty sure you can believe in the three things I mentioned or that the earth is 6000 years old. You can't really believe in all of them.

How can you believe in paleontology?

I know you should be able to hold opposing thoughts in your mind, but unless you believe God forgot to mention giant terrible lizards, I just can't see being able to believe in both.

Do I "believe" in paleontology? As a kid, I obsessed over dinosaurs. When I was five, my Dad let me "teach" his high school class for a few minutes about them. I read every single book in the library about them, including the massive adult books. They are still interesting to me, though I've obviously outgrown the childhood fascination and obsession. I wanted to be a paleontologist until I was probably 9 or 10.
Dinosaurs obviously existed. All the details about when, and where they went...I have no clue. Nor does it bother me.

Evolution is a key part of biology. If you believe the world is 6,000 years old, then Biology is essentially refuted, so you may as well just replace it with Genesis.

They will have a great effect on what they know. But they will not have any effect on what they believe, if I've done my job properly as a parent.
