Differences in "choking"...

I feel like a lot of folks around here don't know the difference between choking on the big stage and choking when it matters. Last Saturday had BOTH of those elements. For instance, people bring up, "well we didn't choke against LSU, or Georgia, or Auburn". That's great... we didn't. But the difference is, we had nothing to lose in those games. If we lose to Auburn last year... so what.... it had nothing to do with us possibly winning our division, conference, or possible BCS Bowl game. If we would have lost to LSU... so what. Would have been just another bowl loss to a good LSU team. Still a "good" year considered by many. If we would have lost to Georgia... we would still have had a chance to win our division, our conference, and run the table as a one loss team.
BUT... last Saturday had the big stage element, but we also had A LOT to lose when it mattered... and we did. No division championship, no conference championship, and all hopes for a possible National Championship vanished in TWO quarters of football. We didn't even give ourselves a chance. We choked on the big stage, AND when it mattered. It's one thing to lose that game... it's another thing to flop like we did. And not to mention... this wasn't just any loss. I believe it tied or was close the biggest beat down EVER in the history of Death Valley. Think about that.
When that stops happening, and I believe it can, Clemson will have really taken itself to another level.
I'm as disappointed as everyone else. It was another huge letdown. But.. alas... we move on. As far as I see it, SCar has become "my" Bowl Game for the year. If we win that, this FSU loss won't hurt nearly as bad.

That distinction has been made by some and overlooked by many. Specifically those who think that the LSU and UGA games are solace for what happened Saturday night.

Playing like you have nothing to lose is hard to do

FSU did because they are a young team. Manziel is one of the few guys that I see that play that way 100% of the time.

We were wound tighter than that stupid Seminole drum Saturday night. Never was one for the "game face" crowd. Gotta stay loose.

used to give the excuse for us losing because WE were a young team. But FSU can play without anything to lose because THEY are young??? Which is it???

With All The Talent We Have ----

We didn't choke..... we played out a death scene.
I would not have cared about losing 27-17 or 34-21. At least some fight was shown. Take that loss to Va. Tech when we wore all purple. We were down big but we fought back only to come up short..... BUT WE FOUGHT.
We made that thing waaayyyyy to easy for FSU even if they have more talent than us.....And thats what has me PIS#ED OFF the most.....the way we lost.
I just want to crush the H#LL out of Maryland before they take off to the B1G 10 and finish SO STRONG for the remainder of the season...bowl game included. We have so much talent to do so.
